OASIS UNFOLDED KIT KAT OTHER WORKS
Oasis
DESIGN CONCEPT
Water is important to the mechanics of the human
body and we use water for household, agricultural
and recreational purpose. So in reference to Ramli's
travelling hobby, I speculate the use of his
transportation and translate it into a space.
WHY OASIS?
Ocean has been the connection between two lands
apart. It shows that his travelling life will never
fade. Oasis signifies a fertile spot in an area which
represents the longevitty of his business

His mode of transportation requires him to travel across sea.
Using the sea as an ambiguity between water and land, I was
inspired to design a connection within the cafe and retail. The
stepping platform simulate the ambient of his travels.
DESIGN CONCEPT
MIURA FOLD, ORIGAMI.
"To create a sense of identitiy in a
communal space, inculcating the
harmonious attributes of the
A form of rigid origami where each parallelogram is
completely flat. It can be packed into a compact shape.
Origami is symmetry and it thus represents the balance of
life between leisure and work.
The boardwalk
Communal seating areas for the
they would seat.
STAGE
A talent show/reading area where user could
perform or relax at the area and read books. The
stage is more of a semi-public space and has one
entrance in the middle because I wanted the
space to have an enclosed feel. This also helps to
project the performer voice better.
It gives an enclosed feel
as it is designed to
create a sense of
privacy and the louvre
are squarish in shapes
as I wanted the user to
be able to see the
glimpse of the outside
view but still protected
against direct sunlight
hitting their eye.
COMMUNAL AREA
LIBRARY AREA
Relating back to the design
statement, which is to
design a space that
inculcates the harmonious
attributes of the kampung
spirit. I decided to design a
communal area which is
more open as I wanted to
create a welcoming feeling.
The shelves emulates a tree
shape to give a sense of
dynamic to the space.
STUDY AREA
It is also a shared
table space as I had
noticed many
primary school kids
hanging around void
deck, sitting on the
floors. So this space
could be used for an
art class/ do
homework after
class.
MAIN
PATHWAY
Linear
pathway
provides easy
access for
wheelchair
bound as it
helps them in
navigating the
ways easily.
REFUGE
SPACE
The elevated
platform that is
covered with
grasspatch gives
an interaction
between the
actual site and
the space I
design.
