MathWorks Helps
With Natick Clean Up
For the fourth year, volunteers
from MathWorks helped
clean up the town in early June.
Some volunteers worked under
the mentorship of Lake Cochituate
Watershed Council members
Carole Berkowitz and Jill Mac-
Glaflin pulling more than 100
water chestnut plants and a lot
of litter from Fisk Pond. Others
cleaned up the settling pond near
Roche Bros. and the Rt. 135 and
Speen Street intersection, always
a “perfect storm” of trash, plastic
bags, styrofoam cups, nips and
chip bags. This challenging area
of town has never looked better.
Running Club Invited to Natick Labs
The Strivers Running Club
for Girls was invited by Garrison
Commander Lt. Col. Ryan
Raymond to run the fitness trail
at the Natick Solider System
Center campus (Natick Labs) on
May 31. The fitness trail is 1.5
miles and circles the perimeter
of the Labs with beautiful views
of Lake Cochituate. In addition,
the Strivers Club had the opportunity
to meet Command Sergeant
Major Erika M. Gholar,
the highest ranking female military
official in the Northeast, and
learn about the research being
done on the development of
food, clothing, shelters and other
items to support soldiers in the
U.S. military. The girls were also
The majority of the girls from the Strivers Running Club are from
Natick. Others are from Wellesley, Dover and Sherborn.
able to try some surprisingly tasty
MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) at
their pre-race carb loading pasta
party. We thank the Natick Army
Labs for such a beautiful and insightful
run.
