ArtWalk was sometimes confused
with Natick Artists Open
Studios (NAOS) in its earlier days.
Though NAOS also promotes
local arts, it is a multiple-day
event that takes place in October,
and spreads out beyond downtown
to many areas of Natick.
Instead of focusing on outdoor,
close-proximity displays, NAOS
opens up studios, galleries and
other establishments, which community
members are invited to
visit.
“As soon as people figured
out the difference between Art-
Walk and Open Studios, they
came into Five Crows and asked
me, ‘When’s ArtWalk? I want to
make sure I’m not going on vacation,’”
McEachern remembered.
“That’s great, that’s what we
want.”
Now that much of the community
is familiar with the event,
local companies are the next frontier
for the duo. “The town has
been very agreeable in closing
Washington Street and having
food outside,” McEachern said.

“Artists have been extremely enthusiastic,
and businesses are still
coming on board, and it’s growing
every year.”
Event Details
ArtWalk will take place on
Thursday, July 21, from 5 p.m. to
8:30 p.m., and is free and open
to the community. It will be held
in Natick Center, the intersection
where routes 27 and 135 cross.
Nearly 60 artists have signed up
to participate this year, including
painters, jewelry-makers, photographers,
glass artists and others.
Musicians will perform in a variety
of styles, including acapella
and bluegrass, and McEachern
hopes to improve the listening
experience. “Last year there were
too many people over on Washington
Street, and you couldn’t
hear them properly,” she said.
“We will sort that out and continue
to bring in a lot of great
musical groups.”
Other attractions will include
dancers, stilt walkers and chalk
drawing.
Natick Center Restaurant
Week begins on July 17 and runs
through July 23 with local restaurants
offering specials.
