They ate, they drank, they laughed, they sparkled:
finalists and friends had a party to remember at
Devon and Cornwall’s longest standing and most
prestigious wedding award ceremony earlier this
year. And VIP guests South East Cornwall MP, Sheryll
Murray and Liskeard Mayor Phil Seeva were on hand to
present the trophies.
The South West Wedding Awards, the region’s ‘Wedding
Oscars’ are now entering their 10th successful year,
recognising wedding specialists who provide outstanding
service and always go the extra mile for their brides.
This year’s ceremony was held at a spectacularly
transformed Launceston Town Hall, where the great and
the good were entertained by Spanish guitarist Mark
Banwell, close magician Dan Brazier and Luke Does Buble,
before settling down to a gala dinner, complete with
contemporary hog roast.
Samm Riley, of Orange Chilli Events, who instigated the
awards in 2007, said: ‘The South West Wedding Awards
are the oldest and most prestigious regional wedding
awards in the UK and we are delighted that other areas in
the country are now replicating our success.’
Dream Weddings magazine is delighted to have sponsored
the awards ever since their inception. Director Helen
Johnson said: ‘All the finalists are chosen on the basis of
votes from their own bridal couples, so they’re a real
people’s choice event. In that sense, every business who
attended was a winner, even if on the night they didn’t take
the top prize.’
Moving with the times, there’s a change to the format for
the 2017 awards – and entries close on November 1 this
year. If you want to be among next year’s winners,
visit the website at www.wedding-awards.co.uk.
It could be YOU in 2017!
The search for the 2017 winners of South West Wedding Awards has already
begun, so if you’re one of those businesses that offers that extra very special
something to brides, it’s time to get your name down.
The competition has been carefully thought out so that both larger and smaller
companies can be judged on an equal footing. National chains are prohibited from
entering and finalists are chosen purely on the results of votes by brides.
There’s a trophy, of course, for the winners in each category, but perhaps more
importantly, there’s also the kudos and prestige of being able to display the winner or
finalist logo on your advertising and literature. Closing date November 1st 2016.
