KRAKATAU NATURE RESERVE
THE VOLCANO
Krakatau complex consists of Mount Anak
Krakatau surrounded by Rakata Island or
the Old Krakatau, Pajang Island, and Sertung
Island. Unlike other volcanoes on
Java, Mount Anak Krakatau is an island
which is also an active volcano.
The deadly 1883 blast of the mother Krakatau
literally self-destroyed almost the entire
volcano. What’s left of it is the Rakata
Island. The child, Anak Krakatau emerged
from the sea in 1928 and eventually establishing
itself as a sickle-shaped island with
a height of 38m and a length of 275m by
1929. The island continued to grow and the
rim had reached a height of 125m by 1940.
"If for one reason or another I should go
back to my country now, I am satisfied.
I am very very satisfied because of today's
Krakatau tour. The rest of my Indonesia
Tour starting tomorrow, I consider it as
a bonus”.
- A genuine testimonial from one of our
guests on his first-day Indonesia Tour after
a visit to Krakatau -
It is still growing now, at the rate of 5m per
year. Anak Krakatau currently has a radius
of about 2 kilometers and a height of 405
meters above sea level.
THE ADVENTURE
KRAKATAU FULL DAY TOUR
Visiting Krakatau is simply fascinating.
It is a display of both destruction and creation.
The Rakata Island shows the remains
of a huge destruction, meanwhile Anak
Krakatau shows how the earth is made.
Climb is only allowed to the level one,
the old outer rim. From here enjoy the fantastic
view towards the surrounding islands
and sparkling sea water below.
Monitor lizards, birds, butterfiles could
be found in the small forests of Anak Krakatau
and Rakata.
Activities:
● Cruise by fast boat for about 1:30 hours
from Carita to Krakatau
● Landing on Anak Krakatau beach
● Short trek from the beach through a
small forest and come out at the lowest
slope of Mount Anak Krakatau
● Climb to level-one, the old (outer) crater
rim
● Lunch at the rest-area by the beach
● Cruise, circumnavigate Mount Anak Krakatau
● Cruise, proceed to Legon Cabe coral reef
near Rakata Island for snorkeling
● Back to Carita
Legon Cabe near Rakata is a shallow
coral reef with plenty of beautiful fish.
INFINITI ADVENTURES
ACCOMODATION
We will provide the best
type of accommodation
where available.
ESCORTED TOURS
Escorted tours (guided
tours) benefit from the following
features:
Tour manager
Tour managers (English
speaking) are carefully selected
for their travel experience
and organisational
abilities. In most
cases the tour manager will
meet you / your group on
arrival at agreed meeting
point and will escort you
throughout your journey
unless otherwise specified.
Expert local guide
On most tours, in addition
to the services of the tour
manager, the escorted
group tours also benefit
from the knowledge of local
guides who accompany
each excursion. In some
cases, where appropriate,
the tour manager will also
act as the local guide. For
Ujung Kulon Tour
(trekking, canoeing) a national
park ranger is required
or at least a local
guide who has knowledge
and experience equals to
national park rangers.
Land travel
For road journeys (national
road, toll road), we use
cars/buses of a size appropriate
to the size of the
group, with air conditioning.
Sea travel
We offer two options based
on types of boat:
● Fast boat, fiber, twin outboard
