Confidence – Comfort & Attitude
Written by Aaron Thomas
When it comes to style, I have heard and seen a lot, and I’m ok with that. For me,
when I’m preparing to put my look or someone else’s look together, I like to get
the essence of the reason I am preparing the look. It has a soundtrack, believe it or
not. I often turn on music and head into the closet; I normally know what it is I
want to put on in my head before I start. When it come to styling myself, I know
my color wheel and what I like and don’t like on myself. I’m sure it’s the same for
everyone, BUT you should be willing to try new things, guys and gals. In today’s
dating market, you must be prepared for morning, noon and night attire. If you’re
single, you should be willing to be a little daring with your style -- not revealing,
but daring [side eye] LOL I’m not married, but I’m sure your spouse would like
you to keep the fashions coming and relevant so you guys can look and feel
connected as well. I like to keep my articles simple and short if you haven’t
noticed, so let’s jump right into it.
A month ago I had the pleasure to style Gospel recording artist Taushey Sais for
her Zine photography shoot. She mentioned the key things she wanted and what
she experienced in her past photo shoots. She wanted something fresh, new and
different. The client mentioned what she liked about my look and style and how I
was always on point from her point of view. As we continued to chat, I learned the
client had a busy schedule as a full time artist and mother, was on a budget and
had very little time to focus on her look, but was open to new ideas. After talking
for a few, we set up a date and time convenient for her to meet me at a few store
locations. We put our plan into action to meet her deadline photo date. After
hitting a few stores, we enjoyed conversation and found clothing she felt
comfortable in and deemed representative of her and her brand. Wrapping things
up, the client was very pleased with her looks, time taken and professionalism she
received to achieve her goals. I placed a few tips below for those of you wanting to
provide fashion consulting services. Till next time!
Key:
• Listen to the client and ask questions so you can be on the same page.
• Your own look can draw others to you, so maintain a simple, fresh look
daily.
• Set up a plan and take action!
• Make sure you stay within the client’s budget. Ask if there’s room for
adjustment if needed.
• Have fun and let the shopping experience be timely, but effective.
