Provincial<br />
Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse<br />
and Exploitation on the Internet (ICE Unit)<br />
$469,406<br />
To help rescue children and combat abuse and child<br />
exploitation on the internet, the Ontario Ministry of<br />
Community Safety and Correctional Services continues<br />
to provide funding for this program. Since 2007, we<br />
have received $1,812,364.<br />
Federal<br />
Firearms Office<br />
$200,147<br />
To help Peel Regional Police administer and enforce<br />
the Firearms Act, the Federal Chief Firearms Office<br />
provided funding for an officer and partial funding for<br />
an administrative position. Since 2005, funding received<br />
has totalled $1,860,619.<br />
Provincial<br />
Proceeds of Crime (POC)<br />
$155,359<br />
Since 2010, Peel Regional Police have received<br />
$1,110,126 in Proceeds of Crime grant funding<br />
from the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and<br />
Correctional Services to fund various initiatives which<br />
include internet crime prevention, maintaining the cyber<br />
bullying program, community safety and the purchase of<br />
equipment used in investigations.<br />
Provincial<br />
Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI)<br />
$58,560<br />
To provide a mentoring environment and insight into<br />
policing as a career, high school students are hired<br />
under this summer program which is funded by the<br />
Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Since<br />
2009, we have received $383,120 and hired 100<br />
students, including 15 in <strong>2015</strong>.<br />
Provincial<br />
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)<br />
$56,305<br />
To enhance the RIDE program, the Ontario Ministry of<br />
Community Safety and Correctional Services provides<br />
a grant which provides additional enforcement. Since<br />
2005, we have received $540,488.<br />
Federal Victims Fund –<br />
Measures to Address Prostitution Initiative<br />
$1,260<br />
Beginning in <strong>2015</strong>, the Government of Canada<br />
announced new funding for social programming over<br />
the next five years to complement recently passed<br />
criminal law reforms. The funding priority is to support<br />
Peel Regional Police in providing new or enhanced<br />
support or outreach activities to assist sellers of sexual<br />
services wishing to leave prostitution including victims<br />
of human trafficking for sexual exploitation.<br />
Hate Crime<br />
And Extremism Investigative Team (HCEIT)<br />
$15,998<br />
Peel Regional Police is a member of the HCEIT and is<br />
involved with monitoring and investigating extremist<br />
and hate crime related activity. As well, the team<br />
communicates with other partners to identify trends<br />
throughout Ontario and Canada that may have<br />
an impact on Peel Region. The Ontario Ministry of<br />
Community Safety and Correctional Services provided<br />
$15,998 in <strong>2015</strong> for training and equipment.<br />
