2016 Polaris General 1000
Going for a spin with Glen’s Sport Center
Glen’s Sports Center of Sheldon,
IA, is home to the brand new
2016 Polaris General 1000. It is
anticipated to be in high demand this
year. A spin-off of the Polaris Ranger,
this side-by-side has a sporty, rugged
look that packs a powerful 100 horsepower
engine capable of speeds up to
70 mph.
Kelly Jongerius, manager of Glen’s
Sports Center, says that the General is
perfect for any on-road and off-road
transportation. Whether you’re farming,
riding the General recreationally
or are running errands around your
property, this vehicle can serve a large
variety of general purposes.
I took the 2016 Polaris General
1000 for a ride across bumpy hills,
creek bottoms and pasture and I
definitely wasn’t disappointed. The
General has the ability to increase to
thrilling speeds at a rapid rate giving
you an instant rush of adrenaline.
Driving the General is simply safe
and comfortable. With an automatic
transmission, an adjustable steering
wheel and gage, bucket seats,
waterproof vinyl interior, doors and
seatbelts, I felt well equipped to
handle any terrain comfortably. If the
seatbelts aren’t buckled, the Polaris
General will only reach a maximum
speed of 10 mph until the passengers
are securely fastened.
With all the communities in
N’West Iowa allowing ordinances for
side-by-side permits, owners of the
General can legally drive the vehicle
in town and can push snow with an
attached plow in the front, according
to Jongerius.. He said that many customers
are driving the General over a
typical standard vehicle.
“The General is becoming a second
or third vehicle for most people,” says
Jongerius. “A lot of people are leaving
their pickup sit and are using the General
to go to work, especially on the
farm.”
The General is the perfect helpinghand
for any farmer or large property
owner. With a dumping box on the
back side, large items can be easily
transported from place to place. The
front of the vehicle features a winch
that can pull up to 4,500 pounds.
The 2016 Polaris General 1000
is listed at $18,500. Jongerius says
that of all the exciting features, the
100-horsepower and firm suspension
make the General the best buy
around.
“If you want to drive a fast, multipurpose
side-by-side vehicle,” said
Jongerius, “The 2016 Polaris General
1000 simply can’t be beat.” F
