United Nati<strong>on</strong>s Alliance <strong>on</strong> Climate Change Educati<strong>on</strong>, Training and<br />
Public Awareness<br />
The United Nati<strong>on</strong>s Alliance <strong>on</strong> Climate Change Educati<strong>on</strong> was<br />
established by 13 UN agencies in 2012 with a view to promoting<br />
meaningful, result-oriented and effective internati<strong>on</strong>al cooperati<strong>on</strong><br />
in support of acti<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> climate change educati<strong>on</strong>. For the GAP,<br />
the Alliance has committed to advance climate change educati<strong>on</strong><br />
within the framework of ESD at the local, nati<strong>on</strong>al and internati<strong>on</strong>al<br />
levels. Specifically, the Alliance is developing guidelines as well as<br />
educati<strong>on</strong>al materials; establishing a network of nati<strong>on</strong>al focal points;<br />
supporting countries in adopting and implementing climate change<br />
learning strategies and acti<strong>on</strong> plans; and c<strong>on</strong>ducting advocacy <strong>on</strong><br />
climate change educati<strong>on</strong> at ten high-level internati<strong>on</strong>al ESD events.<br />

The Foundati<strong>on</strong> <strong>for</strong> Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Educati<strong>on</strong> (FEE) is an internati<strong>on</strong>al<br />
n<strong>on</strong>-government, n<strong>on</strong>-profit organizati<strong>on</strong> that promotes envir<strong>on</strong>mental<br />
educati<strong>on</strong> <strong>for</strong> sustainable development worldwide. Founded in 1981, FEE<br />
has 81 member organizati<strong>on</strong>s in 68 countries. FEE is active through five<br />
envir<strong>on</strong>mental educati<strong>on</strong> programmes, which are all related to ESD:<br />
Blue Flag, Green Key, Eco-Schools, Young Reporters <strong>for</strong> the Envir<strong>on</strong>ment<br />
(YRE) and Learning about Forests (LEAF). For the GAP, FEE commits to<br />
expanding its activities into new countries and enlarging the number of<br />

<br />
Wildlife and Envir<strong>on</strong>ment Society of South Africa (WESSA), South<br />
Africa<br />
The Wildlife and Envir<strong>on</strong>ment Society of South Africa (WESSA) is a n<strong>on</strong>governmental<br />
organizati<strong>on</strong> with almost 90 years of history. During this<br />
time, it has sought to build the human capacity required <strong>for</strong> a sustainable<br />
management of South Africa’s unique natural heritage and the social and<br />
ec<strong>on</strong>omic systems that depend <strong>on</strong> it. In the process, WESSA has become<br />
a leading implementer of regi<strong>on</strong>al and nati<strong>on</strong>al envir<strong>on</strong>mental initiatives.<br />
The WESSA programmes include the Southern African <strong>Development</strong><br />
Community (SADC), a regi<strong>on</strong>al envir<strong>on</strong>mental educati<strong>on</strong> programme<br />
operating in 15 countries in southern Africa, and the EcoSchools<br />
programme involving more than 500,000 learners in South Africa. WESSA<br />
supports the trans<strong>for</strong>mati<strong>on</strong> of schools and the role they play in their<br />
communities through educati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> sustainability practices. For the GAP,<br />
WESSA commits to include a whole-school development with a focus <strong>on</strong><br />
quality educati<strong>on</strong> as well as to enhance community engagement with<br />

Manitoba Educati<strong>on</strong> and Advanced Learning<br />
Manitoba Educati<strong>on</strong> and Advanced Learning provides directi<strong>on</strong> and<br />
allocates resources to public and independent schools in Manitoba,<br />
Canada, to support educati<strong>on</strong> and youth programming. Their missi<strong>on</strong> is<br />
to provide all Manitoba’s children and youth with an array of educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />
opportunities enabling every learner to experience success through<br />
relevant, high-quality educati<strong>on</strong> that prepares them <strong>for</strong> lifel<strong>on</strong>g learning<br />
and citizenship in a just and sustainable society. Manitoba’s commitment<br />
to the GAP is to encourage every school in the province to incorporate an<br />
