PUBLISHER'S
LETTER
Wine, food, adventure and touring in the South African winelands
are a few of my favourite things. The Wine Tourism Handbook is a
compendium of all that makes life worth living in this magnificent
wine region of the world.
As a publisher the ultimate #happydance is the end result of
putting a publication together that meets a market and its readers.
The South African wine tourism industry’s consumers are those
people looking for experiences: new ones, richer ones, deeper
ones, and more authentic ones. You are upwardly mobile; you
want to engage in a story involving landscapes, food, people, and
history and, of course, our wines. You, the wine traveller wants
to be moved in a fundamental way and you want to connect on
a memorable level. The Wine Tourism Handbook will meet you
there. And of course with the obligatory #SAwinelands #Selfie
I believe the metanarrative of wine tourism in South Africa is as
important as the narratives told by wine farms in their individual
capacity. It is vital to put people first and to acknowledge who
we are, what we want, where we want to go and what we want
to contribute. Clicking through these pages, you will not only be
exploring our rich culture but will be inspired to come and visit.
The basic of packaging any travel experience is about straddling
the product, the environment in which it is produced, consumer
expectations and ideals. I hope that you enjoy the content in
these pages, and also offer you a slice of South Africa #SliceofSA.
I would love to hear from you and hear
about your best wine farm experience,
and what you love about South
African wine country.
