climate and environmentally friendly.
Hans Pape, founder of the company, calls
them “modelled nature”. They blend into
their natural environment harmoniously
and fulfill their purpose for mankind at
the same time. Respecting and allowing
space for nature – that means building
paths permeable to water and air, to conserve
natural resources, and to make up
for mistakes from the past by renaturation.
Working with nature instead of
working against it: Instead of destroying
roots of trees and plants when building a
path, HanseGrand Klimabaustoffe uses
the network of roots for stabilization
purposes.
HanseGrand Klimabaustoffe combines
economic practices with the conservation
of environment and climate. The
corporate philosophy is based on sustainability.
Hans Pape is a businessman, an
incurable optimist and seeks to protect
the environment. For him, mankind has
the responsibility to stop climate change.
He does not want to moralize, but to encourage
new ways of thinking and for
people to take action. “We have to stop
redirecting, channelling, and deriving.
We as humans have imposed a different
pace on nature. Now we are required to
react, to change our behaviour, and to
act better than in the past.“
Hans Pape values consistency and reliability.
He regards himself as part of a larger
whole: “HanseGrand Klimabaustoffe
is not me. It is us. If we don’t work as
a team, nothing would work out.” HanseGrand

Europe and relies on close cooperation
with several research institutes. “At the
