Two little puppies
were born the same day
One wanted to snooze,
one wanted to play.
While Danger Dog napped
then ate yawned and slept,
Doofus sang songs
while he pranced
and he leapt...
...all over the others -
his sisters, his brothers...
...and even the cat
got knocked over flat.
Fancy that!
But as they got older
and moved out of home,
the snoozer got bolder
and started to roam.
He looked for adventure...
...he loved little boys
Dog Danger was king
in a kingdom of toys,
which he tossed, bit and buried
in a frenzy quite merry
‘til he finally sat...
... on the new master’s hat.
What a brat!
While Danger got wilder,
a dog full of noise
Doofus got milder -
a slob with great poise.
His food he liked spicy
his fur he liked cool
his bones he chewed up
in the shade by the pool
He moved when he must,
just to roll in the dust;
or to come for a pat
on his mat...
... with the cat
Danger was trapped
in trouble one day.
He got caught in a net
that got in his way.
It twisted,
it tangled.
It spun, sagged
and mangled
the tree, fruit and Danger
dangerously
dangled.
Who slowly got up
and said “What a bother.
till he yelped, howled and blubbered
then barked for his brother...
I’ll have to rescue that dumb dog
once more.
That’s three times this week.. oh.. no
make that four.”
With a swipe of his paw
and a bite at the tree
a grunt and a chew
on the knots, one, two three...
It slowly gave way
with a snap-diddle-dee
The netting string broke
and his brother was free
What a hero was he
