Locking yourself out - Most <strong>properties</strong>, once you shut the door you need a key to get<br />

back in, so please make sure you have your keys with you when leaving the property.<br />

If you find you have locked yourself out give Sue a call, who will come and let you<br />

back in. If you have left the keys in the lock inside the property you must advise her of<br />

this, she will contact a locksmith to get you back into the property as keys cannot be<br />

inserted into the lock and turned from the outside.<br />

Medical problems - If you have sunburn, sickness, diarrhoea, bites go to your local<br />

Pharmacia, they can give you treatment and will refer you to a doctor or hospital if<br />

needed.<br />

If there is a problem with the property, and we are called out you may have to pay a<br />

call-out charge, this is dependent on the problem.<br />

Keep noise after 12pm to a minimum, this is a rule on most urbanisations.<br />

Departure - If during your stay you want to change your departure time please call<br />

Sue at least 2 days be<strong>for</strong>e your departure between the hours of 9am and 7pm. Please<br />

do not ring to change time on the day of your departure we are not able to change<br />

your departure time at short notice.<br />

Adhere to property rules, pool rules and pool opening times.<br />

Put all rubbish in the communal green bins on a daily basis, refuse is collected nightly.<br />

When you depart put all your unwanted food and toiletries in the green communal<br />

bins.<br />

Pools always shower be<strong>for</strong>e going in the pool. Respect the pool rules.


Patio furniture return patio tables, chairs and sunloungers to where you obtained<br />

them.<br />

BBQ - Clean after use, if gas bbq replace gas bottle when empty.<br />

Ashtrays NO SMOKING INSIDE PROPERTY INCLUDES VAPERS/E-<br />

CIGARETTES. Please dispose of cigarette ends and wash ashtray be<strong>for</strong>e leaving<br />

property.<br />

Gas Bottles If you empty, please replace.<br />

Money owed - If you have not been met by us with the keys and you have been asked<br />

by the owner to leave money <strong>for</strong> us i.e. money <strong>for</strong> <strong>welcome</strong> pack, travel cot, beach<br />

towels etc, please leave money on the table or kitchen worktop and we will collect<br />

after you have departed the property.<br />

Visits to the property, if needed, we will get to you as soon as we can, we will let you<br />

know our estimated time of arrival when you telephone us. If you need our help, make<br />

sure you are at the property when we arrive we will not try and find you or phone you.<br />

Do not text us, if you need us, phone us.<br />

Travel Cot/High Chair If you have hired please ensure the company re-collects<br />

items prior to your departure.<br />

Crockery/Cutlery wash and dry all used items and return to cupboards, clean.<br />

Dishwasher If the property you are staying in has a dishwasher, ensure all dishes are<br />

washed and returned to cupboards prior to your departure.<br />

Bedroom light if you are unable to turn light on by the main switch by the door, try<br />

the switch by the bed, sometimes you are unable to switch off at the bed and turn on<br />

at the main switch by the door.<br />

Please do not re-make beds on your final day and leave the property tidy.<br />

Problems If you have a problem with the property during your stay please telephone<br />

us, please don’t text, we don’t accept texts.

In<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

The property is checked on arrival and on departure, and cleaned at the end of your stay.<br />

If an accident does occur, please replace any breakages with the same or similar item.<br />

Please ensure you leave the property in the same condition that you found it.<br />

The accommodation where you are holidaying is privately owned and we request that you respect<br />

the property and show consideration <strong>for</strong> your neighbours. Properties in Spain do not have carpets<br />

there<strong>for</strong>e the noise of walking travels. Wear flat shoes and keep walking in heeled shoes to a<br />

minimum.<br />

Please be advised that we do not accept responsibility <strong>for</strong> accidents, loss of property or damage to<br />

the property. In the event of any of the above please check your own personal holiday insurance<br />

document.<br />

Security<br />

For your own com<strong>for</strong>t and peace of mind, please ensure that when leaving the property all windows<br />

are closed, shutters are left down and all doors and gates are locked. The front door, where possible,<br />

should be double locked.<br />

Keep handbags safe and out of sight when at the beach. Also do not leave handbags on the car<br />

passenger/back seat(s) with the window left open. Take care of handbags at all times.<br />

If keys are lost and need to be replaced a charge of €10 per key (to a max cost of €80) will be<br />

payable. If a locksmith is called, you will be charged <strong>for</strong> the cost of the call-out and replacement lock.<br />

Take the hire car stickers out of your car windows.<br />

Tap Water<br />

Mineral content may cause upset, bottled water is advisable to drink, available from supermarkets.<br />

Electric and Water<br />

It is not unusual <strong>for</strong> water or electric to be cut <strong>for</strong> short periods of time. In the event of a power cut,<br />

check that the switches in the fuse box (generally found behind the front door) are all in the up<br />

position. If you remain without electric or water <strong>for</strong> more than 5 hours please call Sue.<br />

Swimming Pool<br />

Use with safety in mind. Always shower be<strong>for</strong>e entering the pool and adhere to the pool rules. Do<br />

not take glass bottles or glasses anywhere near the swimming pool.<br />

Bins<br />

There are large green/grey bins situated on the main roads, please deposit your rubbish here on a<br />

daily basis. Refuse is collected every night.<br />

Insects<br />

Ants. Where possible keep all food in Tupperware containers or use food bags. If you experience a<br />

problem with ants you can purchase a repellent from most supermarkets.<br />

Mosquitos. It is advisable to use a repellent especially at night, can be purchased from supermarkets.<br />

Telephones<br />

When dialing Spanish phone numbers from an English mobile you will need to dial 0034 in front of<br />

the telephone number.<br />

Stolen Passport and Other Items<br />

Report to nearest Police Station (you will need a translator). If you loose your passport you will need<br />

to visit British Consulate in Alicante, Edificio Espacio, Rambla Mendez Nunex 28-32, 6a planta.<br />

Supermarkets<br />

Opening hours vary during the winter months and some close on Sundays and Spanish bank<br />

holidays all the year. They do not shut <strong>for</strong> afternoon siesta. Supermarkets operate a pay system <strong>for</strong><br />

trolleys using either a 50 cent or €1 coin, returned when you take the trolley back to the trolley park.<br />

Take bags with you, they now charge <strong>for</strong> carrier bags.<br />

Carrefour the largest in the area is off the N332, take the exit <strong>for</strong> the Nations Park - with the<br />

fountain) take the left turning at the roundabout, straight across at the next one, straight across again<br />

and then right at the following one. There is also another just past the Torre Joven Hotel at Punta<br />

Prima. Open Sundays all the year.<br />

Mercadona the largest Spanish supermarket. - Playa Flamenca roundabout. Los Balcones. Between<br />

Campoamor golf course and Villamartin. Pilar de la Horadada. Torrevieja. Aguas Nuevas. Does not<br />

open on a Sunday, even in summer. Closed every fiesta day.<br />

Sunbathing<br />

The sun in this part of Spain can be very powerful, even when cloudy. Do not be deceived by the<br />

pleasant sea breeze. Be sure to apply the appropriate sun factor cream regularly, including be<strong>for</strong>e and<br />

after swimming.

Take care when swimming there are strong undercurrents. Do not leave valuables unattended on the<br />

beach. Beach in Spanish is “Playa”, so if you follow signs <strong>for</strong> Playa you will find a beach.<br />

Do not park against a pavement with a yellow kerb, you will be booked and maybe towed away.<br />

When turning into or out of junctions do not cross a solid white line in the middle of the road.<br />

There are not many road markings, look out <strong>for</strong> STOP and give way signs.<br />

Drivers who test positive <strong>for</strong> alcohol could serve a prison sentence of 3-6 months.<br />

Your car must have 2 red triangles and at least 1 florescent jacket.<br />

The AP road (Autopista) is the equivalent to the English motorway, there are intermittent tolls, on<br />

Golf Courses – the resort of Torrevieja has six courses; Villamartin, Las Ramblas,<br />

Campoamor, La Finca, La Marquesa and Greenlands.<br />

Club de Golf Villamartin – Green fee €60. Tel 96 676 51 27. Has not developed a worldwide<br />

reputation but certainly doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go out of your way to get a tee time. Lot of<br />

personality and well worth the visit, hazardous course.<br />

Club de Golf Las Ramblas – Green fee €42. Tel 96 677 47 28. located between 2 ravines on<br />

the shore of the Mediterranean and enjoys spectacular views.<br />

Real Club de Golf Campoamor – Green fee €44. Tel 96 532 1366. Opened in 1989, not as<br />

hazardous as Villamartin, it is the most panoramic of the courses in the region. Expansive fairways,<br />

excellent greens and the lakes deceive the player somewhat, making this a long and testing course<br />

with six “dog legs” to keep you on your toes.<br />

Golf La Finca (Algorfa) – Green fee €75. Tel 96 672 90 10. Situated at the foot of Mount<br />

Escotera, in the municipality of Algorfa, right in the heart of the Segura region. If you like good<br />

greens, then La Finca should be right up your street.<br />

Golf & Country Club La Marquesa – Green fee €56. Tel 96 671 42 58. mainly flat and offers<br />

no particular difficulties. It has wide fairways interspersed with canals, lakes and other obstacles with<br />

all players find enjoyable. It is a course that ranks as very com<strong>for</strong>table, yet gives players a chance to<br />

use a wide variety of irons.<br />

Greenlands Golf Complex – Green fee €20. Tel 96 597 16 81. Small par 3 course situated<br />

north of Torrevieja on the road to Quesada. It has a first class kid’s academy.<br />
