Maldives for Grown Ups
...a true retreat for couples in paradise
Club Med Finolhu
Perfection in Provence
...the golf & family resort on the French Riviera
Terre Blanche
Newsletter Winter 2015/16
In this issue: Sri Lanka • The Maldives • French Riviera • Cruise
Nestled in beautiful natural
surroundings on this exclusive 5-
hectare island are 52 elegant and
contemporary villas all with
private pool and Butler. For
couples only this new, eco
nature resort provides the
perfect balance between
modern luxury and the natural
charm of the Maldives.
Over 30 villas sit on the water either with sunrise or in the deluxe category the
sunset views which also have the biggest pools! 22 villas are then scattered
across each side of the island along the stunning beaches again with sunrise or
sunset views. The one restaurant on the island “Motu” has an idyllic setting over
the water with a wonderful terrace to sit and listen to the sound of the waves.
Breakfast and Dinner has a la carte waiter service whilst lunch is buffet style.
Before dinner the bar area, with glass floors, is a great place to sit and watch the
fish go by and enjoy a cocktail or two!
You also have access to use another Club Med island, Kani, which is located
about 5 minutes by boat and has a much more of a livelier atmosphere along
with a couple of restaurant and bar choices that you are eligible to use as part
of the all-inclusive package. They also have a number of sports activities as well!
Bianca’s personal thoughts
The Maldives really is total paradise, you see pictures and wonder if the sea
can be that clear and the beaches that white – well they are!
On arrival to Club Med Finolhu island (after 40 min speedboat transfer) there
is a wonderful long jetty with a nice walk down which gives you the chance
to just look around and take in what a beautiful place this is! Our home for
the week was a beautiful sunrise beach villa (no 19) and our butler could not
have been more friendly and helpful. The island only takes 100 guests when
full so you really get a sense of space - and relaxation is the key here! For
scuba divers and snorkelers you will be in awe of the marine life. Packages
can be booked for scuba and the in house Euro divers are a great team. The
food was superb with an excellent mix of Maldivian and Asian cuisine (I even
went to cookery class to learn how to make a Maldivian curry at home it was
that good!) The resort combined luxury with Maldivian charm and the mix
of international travellers offered us ample opportunity for interesting chats
at the bar! I would highly recommend Club Med Finolhu for honeymooners
and anyone who wants that exclusive island experience. It is also one place
I will most definitely visit again!
Wild and authentic Provence, the
incredibly lively Riviera from St-
Tropez to Monte-Carlo are all
nearby Terre Blanche, a golf, spa
and family destination that is
nestled in the hills, yet only 35
minutes from glitzy Cannes.
Set on 750 acres of gardens and
pine forests, this all suite and
villa property is modelled on a
Provencal village with
accommodations arranged in
cottages that are connected by
meandering pathways. Golfers
appreciate Terre Blanche as one
of Europe’s best clubs, with two
18-hole courses, exclusive
practice and learning facilities.
An innovative Kid’s Club and
dedicated pools ensure children
are entertained. Terre Blanche's
incredible spa is a world apart, a
sanctuary devoted to wellbeing.
Offering space, nature, serenity
and top-notch activities, the
resort is also ideal for private
gatherings and events.
Bianca’s personal thoughts
I was lucky enough to see the hotel in September and was not
disappointed. On arrival the long drive takes you through all the beautiful
gardens and once you arrive in the main building you can just tell this
place is something quite special! The rooms are all stunning and give a
true flavour of Provence. For me the pool was something not to miss
overlooking the rolling hills behind you it was a perfect place to relax in
the afternoon sun sipping a Gin or two! The Spa was one of the best I have
seen - it’s like a small hotel itself with so many different rooms and a
beautiful pool. I would highly recommend the resort to families in the
summer. Golfers will be very impressed with the amazing facilities of the
golf centre and couples, looking for the ideal break to relax and unwind,
will find that Terre Blanche has it all…
For a perfect, Mediterranean
why not consider a stay at
There's a real buzz about Sri Lanka right now with those in the know making a
bee line for South Western coasts in the winter and the Eastern coast in the
Summer. The Sri Lankan Riviera which was focused on the south west coast
has spread around the country.
Stay in superb accommodations—from beach-side resorts and colonial-era
mansions to world-class game lodges offering splendid vistas of the
surrounding wilderness. Search for abundant wildlife on a Yala National Park
expedition, which boasts Asia’s largest concentration of leopards, along with
Asian elephants, spotted deer, and over 200 species of birds. Whale-watching
cruises off the southern coast, one of the best places in the world to view blue
whales. Explore Sinharaja, a vast tropical rain forest that is home to over half
of Sri Lanka’s endemic species of flora and fauna.
01435 866555
This teardrop of an island does have
some of southern Asia's most
fascinating historical sites, ancient
Buddhist temples and cave paintings.
With no less than eight UNESCO World
Heritage sites in Sri Lanka, the
destination packs in a lot of
experiences in a relatively small island.
Cycling around the ancient cities is a
great way of enjoying monumental
Polannaruwa and Anuradhapura.
Visitors climbing the rock fortress of
Sigiriya will be rewarded with amazing
views and will be enchanted by the
frescoes capital; the Temple of the
Tooth in Kandy, a significant site of
pilgrimage for Buddhists.
During your journey through this island which is smaller than Ireland, we
suggest a stop in a Historical hill town. A few days in a spot with beautiful
landscapes overlooking slopes where tea grows best, a chance to sip a
delicious cup of Ceylon Tea.
Tracy’s personal thoughts
Temples and tuktuks, egg hoppers and elephants, stories of war and
peace, teas and G&Ts, heritage hotels and emerging resorts ...what an
amazing country Sri Lanka is. There is nothing like first-hand experience
to really get the most out of a destination. I stayed in some fantastic
places that I can’t wait to tell you about so please get in touch!
