HS -01 Project<br />
The first phase of the HS project commenced with vigour and<br />
more cooperation among the team members. There was more<br />
commitment towards the work involved. Tara, Yash and<br />
Sanjay were the executive team of the project. They became<br />
friends during the time they worked together, developing an<br />
understanding amongst them.<br />
As described by Mr. Ravi, there were two main objectives for<br />
this project. One was to translate the ancient scripts found in<br />
Sigiriya and the other was to model a replica of the<br />

magnificent rock fortress “Sigiriya”. Tara not only considered<br />
it to be the oldest manuscript found in South Asia but also to<br />
be a valuable source of information culturally. She tried to<br />
translate the letters in the entire book using her computer<br />
programme with AI tools. It was not long before she realised<br />
that the task was not that easy to fulfil. The anxiety caused by<br />
this situation was exhausting to her. The strain began to show<br />
on her face.<br />
Tara drew the laptop towards her, and sighed. Placing the cup<br />
of coffee that he made for her next to the computer, Yash<br />
patted her shoulder comfortingly. Taking a sip from the brew<br />
he had made for himself as well, he accepted the thankful<br />
look she gave him.<br />
Tara: I am still at the beginning. Do you have any Idea?<br />
Yash: (chuckling) I don’t know these things. But I know how<br />
to uncover a treasure.<br />
The comment made her laugh. And their laughter filled the<br />
room. Sanjay who entered the room at that moment had<br />
heard what Yash had said and eagerly asked:<br />
Sanjay: A treasure?<br />
Tara and Yash gave him a surprised look when he asked the<br />
question so loudly and burst into laughter once more.<br />
Sanjay’s expression changed and he too joined in the<br />

merriment. Giving Yash a playful look, Tara made a slight<br />
gesture with her hand to stop him from laughing.<br />
Tara: On the pretext of helping me decode this manuscript,<br />
Yash is merely fooling around Sanjay. I have still not made<br />
any progress.<br />
Sitting down at the computer once more after a small break,<br />
she started comparing the letters in the manuscript with what<br />
was on the screen.<br />
Yash: Did you try comparing all characters?<br />
Sanjay: Yes! Since it’s a diary it may be numerals. The time<br />
period was around 478 A.D.<br />
That clue gave Tara a new idea. While listening to her two<br />
companions silently, she realised that Sanjay had given her a<br />
good idea. She said as much.<br />
Tara: You are right Sanjay! The documentation starts from<br />
478 A.D. Now this would work, she said happily returning to<br />
her work at the table.<br />
Like a hunter who sets his trap successfully and looks away<br />
till something falls prey to it, she started her computer<br />
programme, and recommenced her conversation with the two<br />
men.<br />

The translation was to a language known only to her. Only<br />
she could understand the characters. Her intelligence and<br />
futuristic view had helped in preserving the work of several<br />
archaeological projects. She continued her conversation with<br />
Yash and Sanjay aware that half the task of translating the<br />
ancient manuscript was a success. Therefore she hoped to<br />
complete the quota of translation for that day and join her<br />
two companions in the first field trip to Sigiriya. It would be<br />
the first step towards modelling the magnificent structure.<br />
Tara: I too will join you on the field visit tomorrow.<br />
Sanjay: That would be wonderful. We will be able to discover<br />
many of its secrets.<br />
Yash: About the treasure?<br />
Yash’s comment had the effect the desired as they burst out<br />
laughing again. He continued to make them laugh. The three<br />
were able to overcome the strain and weariness of the day’s<br />
work with such humour.<br />
