Grounds and Garden News
Here we are in
July. The perfect
weather conditions
are causing the
grass to grow
much quicker and
as a result, the
lawns are being cut
weekly instead of
fortnightly.
The gazebo near
the pond has now
been repaired and repainted to enhance the
pleasure (and safety) of those using it. We hope
the weather stays good to be able to make
use of it, or at least provide shelter when the
weather turns.
The well is due to be repaired soon. This will
mean taking the roof off, lifting one of the posts
and then replacing the wooden tiles. A big job,
but it should be ready for the autumn.
The Prayer Room, constructed from the old
games room, has new uPVC windows, and
there are plans to repaint the wood soffits and
replace the guttering this year.
The big news is that both car parks and the link
path are to be resurfaced at the beginning of
September. This is very exciting as it will make
a huge difference to the look of the grounds.
New parking bay markings are planned, which
will hopefully help the current parking situation.
Desmond and the volunteers have worked
very hard as usual in keeping the grounds so
beautiful. Desmond is kept busy with strimming
the grounds and generally making sure that the
grounds are looking their best, with the help
of Cliff, whose lawn edging work seems never
ending! Volunteer Dave is always trying to think
of new projects we can do together. What a
team!
As I write this, everyone is working flat out
in preparation for Thanksgiving Day. There is
never a quiet moment here at the CCHC!
Blessings to all, Kim
