With bookings flowing in, the programme for this year’s NEG
Building for Success Conference on Sunday 6 November is
shaping up very nicely indeed. With its theme of ‘A digital
response to a digital age’, expect a grey-matter stretching and
enjoyable mix of CET and business presentations on topics such
as myopia control, how to manage patients’ digital lifestyles, the latest on
progressive lenses, as well as top tips on fraud and insurance.
Taking place at the Hilton Metropole Birmingham, the NEG conference is (as
always) free for members and their practice teams. You’ll get more bang for your
buck this year if you also take advantage of a reduced rate for Independents Day
(iDay), which follows on Monday 7 November (see News page 7). The theme of
iDay 2016 is ‘How to be a retail champion’, and delegates will learn some of the
tricks-of-the-trade used by non-optical retailers. The iShow exhibition will run
across both days, so there’ll be plenty of time to ‘shop around’ too.
Next month we’ll be running a special feature on both events but in the
meantime, read on for news of a £3.8m direct-to-consumer TV advertising
campaign being undertaken by Alcon (page 21), insights into how to motivate
your staff for personal and practice success (page 23), and a look at some
fabulously fun and functional frame styles for youngsters in the run-up to that
all-important Back to School season (page 24).
If you’ve been lucky enough to book a week at one of NEG’s holiday apartments
in Tenerife or Cornwall, then have a great holiday – and enjoy the rest of the
summer wherever you are spending it.
