COSMYTHOLOGY<br />
THE CREATION OF OUR UNIVERSE
INTRODUCTION<br />
The evocative mystical essence and beauty that<br />
the creation myths contain has been watered down<br />
by the analytical and data based deconstruction<br />
done by science of the creation process This<br />
project is a visual narrative in the form of a series<br />
of illustrations bound together in an accordion fold<br />
book and is based on an interpretive mythification<br />
of the Big Bang theory.
In the beginning there was darkness. Nothing existed but<br />
a floating Spirit. After having wandered in the endless<br />
expanse for a long period the Spirit tried speeding time<br />
to see if the future held something. The Spirit did so by<br />
placing its palms in front of each other and rotated them in<br />
opposite directions. A hot ball of fire, burning and spinning<br />
extremely fast, ignited in its palms. The space between<br />
started heating up and a rapid burst of energy shook it awake<br />
from a deep state of meditation. Darkness permeated, yet<br />
again. However, a bright light illuminated its chest and an<br />
immense ripple of heat expanded through its form. Burning<br />
and trickling through in a luminous yellow wave, the heat<br />
slowly materialized and transformed the spirit’s amorphous<br />
form into a feminine humanlike figure. As she transformed<br />
further, everything that was contained within her , began dematerializing<br />
and started burning off layers of skin, making<br />
her clench and curl up in pain.<br />
The heat and pain slowly dwindled into the darkness. She<br />
observed her new skin and form for the first time. A strange<br />
murky colour began engulfing her arms, legs and devoured<br />
her entire body. She touched a spot gently and saw the odd<br />
colour submerge under a mesmerizing yellow glow. Her<br />
hands flowed and brushed onto every part of her body until<br />
the murkiness subsided, leaving her glowing with energy.<br />
At last, everything seemed at rest but a slight pulsating<br />
sensation started magnifying in the centre of her face. She<br />
instinctively rubbed her face and felt the motion give rise to<br />
a pair of eyes, a nose, two ears and a mouth supported by a<br />
set of lips. The tingling trickled its way to the top of her head<br />
and transformed into fast growing strands of hair that, in<br />
seconds, flooded the darkness.<br />
As she floated through the enthralling galactic strands of<br />
hair, she realized that there were changes still taking place<br />
within them. She swam in the chaotic mess of her galactic<br />
hair and zoomed in to find round fiery objects colliding with<br />
each other. The fireballs reminded her of the big explosion<br />
which gave her the new form. She wondered if there<br />
were smaller versions of her being created in these fiery<br />
round objects and observed them from a more zoomed in<br />
perspective. What she was staring at was the sun and two<br />
small molten balls of fire. One of them was approaching the<br />
other at a great speed. The collision resulted in the formation<br />
of a scorching hot raw Earth and the residue gave birth to the<br />
moon. She was now certain that her miniature version would<br />
be inside the planet Earth as she was also created from the<br />
collision of her spirit self and the ball of fire.<br />
As she picked up the Earth, it blazed and burnt her hands<br />
making her eyes water. Big drops of tears escaped her eyes<br />
and fell straight into the earth creating pools of water. Her<br />
fingers started throbbing. She blew on them and the cool<br />
wind crossed over towards the earth. The earth began to spin,<br />
the moon shifted closer creating huge tides and a mega storm<br />
broke out and started cooling the Earth.<br />
The bright hot orange was now replaced with calm and<br />
soothing shades of blue. She leaned closer and looked at it<br />
suspiciously. Surely enough, hot orange liquid spewed up<br />
from underneath the water, gulping it down and creating<br />
small floating islands. To prevent the Earth catching fire<br />
again, she blew on it until it became a frozen ball of ice.<br />
Earth was now bearable and resembled a beautiful round<br />
marble. She picked it up and looked within it but couldn’t<br />
see past all the ice. So, she rubbed it until all the ice melted<br />
and a naked earth was revealed. Finally being able to see<br />
its contents, she enthusiastically looked within for a being<br />
similar to her but there was nothing except vast oceans and<br />
pieces of land. Her heart sank. Disappointed, she placed it<br />
back where it belonged and let out a long sigh. Breath! The<br />
difference between her spirit and her new form was that now<br />
she had breath! She inhaled deeply, caught it in her palms<br />
and poured it into the earth. Her breath seeped through the<br />
ocean and small green plants started sprouting up. In an<br />
ocean full of her breath, small green plants rose and swayed<br />
along with the waves but that was not all. An intriguing<br />
creature, breathing and moving, crawled amidst them. Life on<br />
earth had finally begun to blossom.

played its role and matter triumphed.

glow. Her hands flowed and brushed onto every<br />
part of her body until the murkiness subsided,<br />
leaving her glowing with energy.<br />
Due to the instability of the new nuclei and their collision,<br />
a dense opaque plasma of protons, neutrons and electrons<br />
was formed. Finally, electrons were able to combine with<br />
the nuclei and the absorption of free electrons caused the<br />
universe to become brighter and clearer.<br />

cosmic puzzle. Atoms heavier<br />
than helium and hydrogen such as<br />
Carbon, magnesium, oxygen etc,<br />
were created in the heart of stars.
She instinctively rubbed her face and felt<br />

overwhelming gravity and its proximity<br />

on them and the cool wind crossed over<br />
towards the earth.<br />

just enough to form the crust. However<br />
its surface was still volatile and the crust<br />
started heating up.
Surely enough, hot orange liquid spewed<br />
up from underneath the water, gulping it<br />
down and creating small floating islands. To<br />
prevent the Earth catching fire again, she<br />
blew on it until it became a frozen ball of ice.<br />
Molten rocks tore through the earth’s<br />
crust and the lava cooled to form<br />
volcanic islands.<br />
She leaned closer and looked at it<br />
suspiciously.<br />
Earth was now bearable and resembled a<br />
beautiful round marble. She picked it up<br />
and looked within it but couldn’t see past<br />
all the ice. So, she rubbed it until all the ice<br />
melted and a naked earth was revealed.<br />
Volcanic eruptions overtime release Carbon<br />
dioxide which mixed with water to make acid<br />
rain which got absorbed by the rocks along with<br />
the carbon dioxide. Temperature plummets to<br />
negative degrees and earth experiences the<br />
coldest ice age to have ever gripped the planet.
Her heart sank. Disappointed, she placed it back<br />
where it belonged and let out a long sigh.<br />
Finally being able to see its contents, she<br />
enthusiastically looked within for a being<br />
similar to her but there was nothing except<br />
vast oceans and pieces of land.<br />
Breath! The difference between her<br />
spirit and her new form was that now<br />
she had breath!<br />
Earlier on the rocks had absorbed<br />
the Carbon dioxide but were now<br />
covered in ice, thus it started filling<br />
the atmosphere and trapped the sun’s<br />
warmth resulting in the melting of ice.<br />
Revealing huge oceans and islands.
Her breath seeped through the ocean and<br />
small green plants started sprouting up.<br />
In an ocean full of her breath, small green<br />
plants rose and swayed along with the<br />
waves but that was not all.<br />
She inhaled deeply, caught it in her palms<br />

An intriguing creature, breathing and<br />
moving, crawled amidst them. Life on earth<br />
had finally begun to blossom.<br />
While the planet was frozen, the sun’s UV<br />
rays reacted with water molecules in the<br />
ice to produce a chemical rich in oxygen<br />
called Hydrogen Peroxide. In an ocean full of<br />
oxygen, primitive bacteria evolved giving rise<br />
to plants and living organisms.
