Opera
Each spring, our vocal students
collaborate to produce a fully staged
opera in Kingsbury Hall. This year’s
selection, Poulenc’s tragic lyric opera,
Dialogues of the Carmelites, tells the
story of a wealthy young heroine,
Blanche de la Force, who enters an
order of devout nuns seeking refuge,
but instead faces her fears and masters
her life as the French revolution unfolds.
The powerful, highly emotional score
deals with themes of political power
