Hospital on schedule for 2017 opening
An excerpt from the article By Erika Neldner of the Cherokee Ledger 7/22/2015
The new Northside Hospital-Cherokee is moving along, with an expected move-in
date of March 2017. Holli Padgett, executive assistant to hospital CEO Billy Hayes, said
the completion date is December 2016, but they will move equipment into the new
facility in early 2017.
The medical office buildings, which will sit on the hospital campus, are expected
to open between September and October of next year. Hayes said he is excited about the
progress of the replacement hospital.
“We are very excited about the new hospital and pleased with the progress Batson-
Cook is making. We are currently on schedule and expect to move in early 2017,” Hayes
said. “The new hospital will allow Northside Cherokee to deliver an even higher quality
of health care to Cherokee and our surrounding counties while bringing numerous jobs to
our area.”
The replacement hospital will include the following medical services: a cancer
institute; surgical services including robotics, bariatrics, plastics and neuro; maternity
and newborn services with a Level 2 neonatal intensive care unit; gynecology; radiology
(imaging) with both inpatient and outpatient services; a breast care program; a spine
center; orthopedics; interventional pain management; adult and pediatric emergency
services; 24/7 stroke care; heart and vascular institute with cardiac catheterization and
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention; diabetes and nutrition services; urology; clinical
trials; gastroenterology; neurology; rehabilitation services; critical care services;
respiratory care; lab services; and specialty medicine.
“We’ll see a seven-story structure, which would be a main tower with patient
care,” he said. “We’ll have a women’s center. We’ll also have an emergency department,
surgical suites and operating rooms. It’s going to be a beautiful building. It’s going to be
quite striking.”
Northside is looking to build a state-of-the-art facility that is expected to have
better navigation than most hospitals using a recurrent design of nurses stations, which
will be used as anchors. There also will be color cues to help visitors navigate the facility.
The replacement hospital will move the existing facilities on Hospital Road to the new
Northside Cherokee Boulevard just past Interstate 575 off Highway 20.

Hickory Log Creek Reservoir
The facility, located near the intersection of Bluffs
Parkway and Fate Conn Road, was constructed
by the City Canton on land leased to the city by
Technology Park Atlanta. With 1 acre of parking,
the facility can accommodate approximately 40
vehicles with trailers at one time.
Hickory Log Creek Dam is one of the largest in
Georgia not built by the Corps of Engineers or
Georgia Power. The reservoir covers 414 acres,
features almost 15 miles of shoreline, and holds
nearly 6 billion gallons of water.
Boats with electric motors, canoes, and kayaks
will be allowed on the water. Boats with gas or
diesel motors and sailboats are NOT allowed.
The parking area will be open 7:00 am – 7:00
pm, 7 days per week and 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Cost is
$5.00 per day per vehicle.

Welcome to
Fairways of
Canton!
Welcome to Fairways of Canton, the premiere destination for a round of golf in Canton,
Georgia. We strive to make every aspect of the experience on our grounds fun and
enjoyable. Our club combines challenging golf, luxurious amenities and hospitable
service to offer one of the most memorable tee times in the entire south.
The course layout at our facility is one of the highest quality. Fairways of Canton take
players on a journey through 18 holes and 6500 yards of play. The course is a par 72,
and it features some of the best views in the region. Be warned — this is not a course
that can be overpowered. Many fairways are generous and most greens are on the
smaller side with numerous chipping areas to assist you if you miss a green or two
during a round. Our greens are the only ultra
dwarf Bermuda greens at any public golf course
in the area. Correct placement on greens is
pivotal to good scoring.
And don’t forget to stop in and say hello when
you visit!
