A Note From The Editor...
What's New?
It's safe to say a lot has
been going on this Summer for
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation!
In this edition we give you a
snapshot of just a few of our
projects this summer.
After announcing Joe Root as our
first ambassador and the
introduction of the YCF Century
Club, we are continuing to move
forward as a charity, with exciting
new projects, but not forgetting our
ever growing existing ones.
This Summer has seen fantastic
development of women and girls
cricket across a range of our
projects, with day three of Beach
Cricket being solely dedicated to
under 13's girls teams and
Yorkshire Diamonds playing two
home T20 games, inspiring female
players across Yorkshire.

Our new projects have seen
fantastic engagement, with YCF Run
Club back again after the success of
the first sessions and the start of
Memory Lane Mondays. The
Yorkshire Pride Lottery has raised
essential funds and provided a big
win and our Yorkshire Cricket
Camps have provided hundreds of
children with the opportunity to take
part in cricket coaching sessions for
just £1 a day!

Education Day 2016
Education Day, supported by Andrew
Gale's Benefit Year, took place on
the 22nd June and what a day it was!
Over 600 children from 20 schools all
over Yorkshire flooded through the
gates of Headingley Stadium for a fun
filled, action packed day of educational
activities on and off the pitch!
Upon arrival, the children were seated in
the stands for a special welcome
assembly and were given their very own
Kwik Cricket T­shirt to keep.
The youngsters attended various
different workshops and were given the
opportunity to go onto the outfield to
play a little cricket. They were even
joined by Yorkshire player, Jack Brooks!
It was a day enjoyed by teachers, staff
and students alike and we cannot wait
to see what next year brings!
Fantastic day, superbly organised!
We all had a wonderful time and
can’t thank you enough for a
fantastic experience that our
children will never forget.

Memory Lane Mondays
Memory Lane Mondays is a new social
group run by The Yorkshire Cricket
Foundation which provides the
opportunity for people who live locally
to Headingley to meet and share their
memories and experiences with others
in a comfortable environment.
Meeting every second Monday of the
month, sessions last around 90
minutes and include activities and
quizzes, with different topics each time.
Sessions are held in the East Stand at
1.30pm, in the historic Headingley
Stadium!

'Memory Lane Mondays welcomes
all and is primarily aimed at those
who are or are at risk of social
isolation and provides a
comfortable environment for
people to share their
experiences here at Headingley, all
over a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea!'

Cricket Club wins big in the Yorkshire
Pride Annual Draw!
“The Lottery helps to fund our community
work as well as the YCCC academy. It
also gives people the chance to win
fantastic cash prizes such as this.”
Mrs Anne Henson, who joined the Lottery
in 2008, received a call from Foundation
Manager, Will Saville, inviting Anne to
Headingley to receive her cheque of
£12,000.

Heart Yorkshire Children's Day
Radio Heart Yorkshire teamed up with
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation
to deliver this year’s, Heart Yorkshire
Children’s Day!
Your Benefits
Children’s Day is an annual event, run
by both foundations, which brings
together thousands of children and
families to Headingley Stadium for a
fun filled day of exciting activities for all
the family to get involved in.
Activities and stalls were situated
across Headingley stadium, on and off
the Cricket Pitch including a market
from The Real Junk Food Project,
Tropical Butterfly World, Jack Rabbits
Pottery and much more!
Major Match Day
Activations
Every season, The Yorkshire Cricket
Foundation engage with children all over
Yorkshire, giving them the opportunity to
get on the pitch during major matches
here at Headingley.
'It was great to have so many local
organisations involved and
supporting the day, all proving to
be extremely popular attractions for
families of all ages. Something we
really strive for with many of our
projects at the YCF is the
involvement of local people and
businesses, and Children’s Day
really displayed this’

The YCF also grants one lucky child
the chance to be our mascot for the
day, giving them the once in a lifetime
opportunity to go out into the middle
with both captains for the coin toss.
The Guard of Honour invites two cricket
clubs to stand guard, waving flags high
as Yorkshire run onto the pitch before
start of play. They then both compete in
our Throw Show competition, on the
pitch, during the interval.

Here at the YCF we have lots of things going on which you can get
involved in. Whether it's to boost your C.V, improve your health and
fitness, socialise with new people or to give something back to the local
