ENTERTAINMENT WWW.WSBA.COM.AU Stars turn out for Riverside fundraiser SUPPORT RIVERSIDE Theatres’ major annual fundraising luncheon, Get On Stage, returns for its seventh year on September 9. Get On Stage is held to support the venue’s artistic programs and accessible arts access for people with disability. Driven by the regional business community, the luncheon will invite patrons to the Riverside stage for a unique two-course dining experience alongside fantastic live entertainment, silent auctions and raffles. Providing the entertainment at this year’s luncheon will be acclaimed Australian actor, singer and television host, Tom Burlinson. Best-known for his lead roles in The Man from Snowy River, Phar Lap: Heart of a Nation and Flesh and Blood, Burlinson will delight the audience with his impressive repertoire of classic songs including timeless hits by Frank Sinatra. For over two decades, Riverside Theatres has been a leader in the area of access and disability in the performing arts, working to establish a range of services and artistic programs tailored to the specific needs of people with disability. These include a participatory performing arts program lead by artists for people with disability (Beyond Abba), high levels of physical accessibility, and accessible services for performances through the year including Auslan Interpreted shows for people who are hearing impaired, relaxed performances for children on the Autism spectrum and Audio Described performances for people with visual impairment. Scenes from last year’s get On Stage Since inception, the Get On Stage fundraiser luncheon has hosted more than 1,000 people and contributed more than $240,000 to the venue’s disability programs.
