<strong>Culture</strong> Night is a night of entertainment, discovery<br />
and adventure across towns, cities and counties<br />
in Ireland. In Offaly there are over 30 FREE events<br />
right across the county and much to explore, whether you<br />
can attend one event or create your own <strong>Culture</strong> Night<br />
trail, we look forward to seeing you out and about on<br />

MILITARY MANOEUVRES<br />
Artist Patricia Hurl brings a classical painting,<br />
‘Military Manoeuvres’, to life in Banagher by<br />
re-enacting the scene as closely as possible with<br />
the aim of reproducing a contemporary ‘take’ on<br />
a scene which shows life as it was for many of<br />
our citizens before the events of 1916. To take<br />

she is a Catholic and not everyone approves.<br />

TIGER BY IMELDA CARROLL<br />
Set in the present day, Tiger is a play about two sisters<br />
trapped in a dysfunctional relationship. When a stranger<br />
arrives unexpectedly at their door one night emotions<br />
are released which lead to shocking disclosures and a<br />
resolution - of sorts! Winner of the 2016 Scripts Playwriting<br />
Festival. Imelda Carroll is from Wexford town and her new<br />
play Tiger won the overall award presented by Jessica<br />
Traynor from the Abbey Theatre at the festival in July. Take<br />
in a post-play discussion with the creative team behind<br />
Scripts, winning Playwright Imelda Carroll and Mentor<br />
Eugene O’Brien on the development process and journey<br />
from page to stage.<br />

Eamonn Bulfin, the Offaly man who raised<br />
the Irish Republic flag on the GPO in 1916,<br />
has a legacy of artistic direct descendants;<br />
from his son Michael a renowned sculptor<br />
and member of Aosdána to his great granddaughter<br />
Lucy Carragher, a recent winner<br />
in the Texaco Children’s Art Competition.<br />
This exhibition features a specially<br />
commissioned bronze plaque of Eamonn<br />
Bulfin, created by his granddaughter<br />
Siobhán Bulfin. Commissioned by Offaly<br />
County Council in this centenary year<br />

Daingean, and they have an original sound<br />
with excellent musicians on trumpet,<br />
trombone, alto and baritone saxes.<br />
