Lunchtime Concerts Series
Welcome to the Autumn Term at
Uppingham and to our new Diary of
Events.
We are thrilled to welcome The Sixteen on
3 December for a Christmas concert
‘The Three Kings’ in Uppingham’s glorious
Chapel. From Renaissance polyphony to
Warlock’s celebrated Bethlehem Down, this
promises to be a very special evening. Our
lunchtime concerts series continues, beginning
in style on 7 September with Andrew
Kennedy, Catherine Griffiths and Andrew
Ashwin performing arias, duets and trios from
the Rossini favourite The Barber of Seville. Later
that month, internationally acclaimed violinist
Alexander Hohenthal joins David Hill for a
recital including Bach’s famous Chaconne.
Uppingham pupils are renowned for their
musicianship. This term features concerts in
Melton and Ashley, a programme of Music for
Remembrance featuring pupil compositions,
and ‘Great Britten’, celebrating Benjamin
Britten’s inspiring and evocative folksong
arrangements. Whatever your musical tastes,
we look forward to welcoming you soon.
Dr Rebecca Thumpston, Music Events and
Publicity Manager and Stephen Williams,
