Cordeaux Academy is a key member of the
Academies Enterprise Trust (AET)

This is a rapidly developing network of Academies
created to provide thousands of students with the
best possible education.
The AET aim is to provide opportunity for all
young learners to fulfil their real potential,
broaden their horizons and become active,
prosperous and successful citizens of the world
around them. All young people deserve to
learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate
educational environment with the best facilities,
the best teaching and the most up to date
resources available to them.
The AET is committed to doing everything it can

Thank you for considering our
academy for your child’s education
over the next 7 years. We recognise
what an honour, responsibility
and privilege it is to prepare our
students for their future.

to become and this is what it means to be part of the Cordeaux
learning journey.
This is an exciting time to join the Cordeaux community.
Developments in teaching and learning, an extensive professional
development programme, high expectations and a high work ethic
means that the Academy is improving rapidly.
We believe that every student, regardless of ability, can and will
succeed. We develop in our students a sense of pride, high
expectations, ambition, resilience and confidence and we pride
ourselves in the care, support and guidance that we are able to offer.
The popularity of the Academy within the local community can
be illustrated by the over subscription of applications to join the
Academy and the increasing number of requests to transfer students
to the Academy in-year.
As an 11-18 Academy we are able to provide a curriculum offer
which allows students to achieve and positively progress at post-16
either within the Academy or as part of a curriculum offer within the
wider Louth learning community.

This prospectus gives you a flavour of what Cordeaux Academy has
to offer but to fully appreciate the extent of our provision and to

Guidance
and Support
CARING VALUES AND POSITIVE PARTNERSHIPS
We are recognised for our caring, supportive,
nurturing and happy learning environment.
We are proud of the support we give our
learners to enable them to succeed and
achieve in all aspects of academy life. Any
concerns that parents or students may
have will be dealt with in a thorough and
sensitive way.
PUPIL SUPPORT
Cordeaux Academy places great emphasis on
academic and pastoral oversight by the Form
Tutor, who is the key liaison teacher with
parents / carers.
Pastoral care is an integral part of the
everyday life of the academy and provides
support and counselling from settling in at
Year 7 to careers and Higher Education advice
in the Sixth Form.
HIGH STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOUR
Our students work in a safe, caring
environment which promotes self- discipline,
effective learning and high expectations in
terms of effort and appearance.
Our ‘Discipline with Dignity’ programme
emphasises core values of tolerance, respect
and courtesy for all students.
PLANNER
Each student from Year 7 to 11 has a school
planner to assist in their organisation and
to keep records of their achievement.
The planner also acts as an important link
between home and school.
PARENT PARTNERSHIP
Strong partnerships with parents are a
vital element in supporting our learners to
succeed. We provide a wide programme of
events and meetings for parents to engage
with the academy to help cement a strong
and productive relationship.

Post 16 Curriculum
CREATING CONFIDENT FUTURES
Cordeaux Sixth Form has
grown in recent years to offer
a distinctive, broad, innovative
variety of applied and
vocational courses leading to
awards at Levels 1, 2 and 3 over
one, two or three years.
Students can progress to University with these
qualifications but equally move straight into
a career with employability and work-related
accreditation.
Our aim is to provide a coherent and personalised
experience for all students. All courses are taught
by specialist teachers and instructors. Sixth Form
students enjoy all the benefits of the state of the
art facilities of the Wolds Centre.
PATHWAYS
Professional Pathways offer
tailored routes through post-16
education. Cordeaux Academy
offers three pathways:
The Readiness Pathway is a one year option
for those students wishing to improve their
academic profile at Level 1 or 2, which includes
a Foundation Learning route. Suitable students
may enjoy a work-based programme with a local
employer.
POST 16 ENRICHMENT

Cordeaux Academy is committed
to producing young people
with the skills and experience
necessary for the world of work.
This includes:
A wide range of courses
Specialist facilities and teaching
Personal tutors
Student support services
Leadership and employability opportunities
Enrichment opportunities
We are working closely with a local training
provider to offer apprenticeships in Motor
Vehicle and Construction. This is the first
phase of a development which will see further
apprenticeship lines being offered year on year.
The Pre-Apprenticeship Pathway is a one or
two year option for students looking to gain
Level 2 or 3 qualifications before embarking on
an apprenticeship, entering FE or employment.
This pathway will encompass community
involvement and enterprise opportunities to
build employability skills.
The Academic Pathway is a two year
programme for students wishing to gain
Level 3 qualifications prior to entering HE
or employment. This programme offers
opportunities for internships in our Leaders of
Tomorrow programme.

Extra Curricular
Activities
ENRICHMENT FOR LIFE
The wide range of extra curricular activities
we offer provide inspiring opportunities
to enrich and enhance learning in the
classroom and try new experiences. We
strongly encourage broad participation as
we recognise its impact on life skills, such
as public performance, confidence, problem
solving and teamwork.
In recent years the Academy has offered an impressive array of
opportunities including:
Drama, Dance and theatre trips
Music concerts, choirs and instrumental tuition
Sports with a full range of clubs, teams and competitions
Foreign visits throughout the world
