TARGET AUDIENCE<br />
The target audience for the workshop are Ophthalmologists, Optometrists,<br />
Family Physicians / Emergency Room Physicians, Nurse Practitioners,<br />
Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Specialists, Opticians, Residents,<br />
and Other Primary Eye Care Workers.<br />
THEME: Fostering Inter-Professional Collaborative Practice for Eye Health & Vision Care<br />
“This inclusive workshop will provide a professionally stimulating forum in which to exchange ideas for enhancing interprofessional<br />
collaboration for eye care and offer participants interactive ophthalmic clinical skills training and practical approaches to the management of<br />
common eye problems presenting to the primary-care physician.”<br />
LEARNING OBJECTIVES<br />
At the end of this workshop program, participants should be able to:<br />
• Evaluate the different current approaches to Inter professional education and practice in eye care that improves patient’s outcome including institutional<br />
efforts and practitioner’s adherence to collaborative clinical practice guidelines.<br />
• Explore the full potential of Inter-Professional collaboration and collaborative practice care delivery to achieve a national vision strategy using the competency<br />
framework for today, tomorrow and in the future.<br />
• Act as agents for change by advocating to advance eye health care through Inter-Professional Collaborative Practice and eye care delivery models that<br />
optimizes and improve patient’s outcomes.<br />
• Enhance Inter-Professional collaborative patient centered care for early childhood / children eye health including pre requisites for eye and vision screening<br />
and discuss current opportunities and programs including the Key Challenges to achieving this objective.<br />
• Using various CME methods including grand rounds, meet the experts’ forum and others, describe the practical approaches to co-manage the common eye<br />
surgical problems that present to the primary-care physician including the knowledge and skills for ophthalmic examination.<br />
