ROMP IN NEW
DOG PARK

As of September 17, Riverside
dogs have a place to play, pounce,
and ponder nature at the John
Gorrie Dog Park.
Located at the northwest corner
of Riverside Park, the area is two
acres and includes two fencedin
areas: one for little dogs (one
quarter of an acre) and one for big
dogs (one-and-a-quarter acres).
The larger area stretches under a
highway overpass, leaving plenty
of room to roam and run.
There is plenty of shade
provided by palm trees and
as many recycled materials as
possible were used in construction.
The dog park also features plenty
of parallel parking outside of the
gates, a water fountain for pups and
seating options for their owners.
Jack met with a few dogs at
John Gorrie to get their take on the
new addition. In between chasing
each other, sniffing one another’s
rumps, and slobbering on the
humans, the pups took a breather
to tell us how happy the park made
them.
In keeping with the first-pooch
spirit of this issue, we asked what
they love about the park, and their
tails wagged. See their responses
