Snow sled concepts inspired by Oakley Sunglasses. Each concept was built
with high speed, high altitude and high functionality in mind.

Research
The chosen brand to incorporate into the snow sled design was Oakley. With the angular,
technological vibe that Oakley brings in their product lines, it seemed fitting to style snow sleds
with their aggressive, continious and uniform lines.
Radarlocks
In these particular sunglasses, it is apparent that aerodynamics
are the priority of the functionality, aside from protecting the eyes.
Vault
With the Vault model, a minimalistic approach is noted which
is a beneficial quality to add to a product such as snow sleds.
Radar Pitch
The final product studied shows an allowance for air passage,
enabling for smoother airflow and ventilation.

The purpose of this project was to create a unique lamp composed of
wood and an accent of aluminum. Aesthetic appeal and fucntionality
were primary in the design considerations.

The challenge that this project presented was creating a dish that could hold a
substantial amount of fruit and in addition to that, add compositional value to the
table or surface which it resides. Because the dish had to be built by multiples of
the same exact piece, I decided to design a dish that only had one true way of
being assembled.

Grant Stohler - Fall 2015

Statement of Intent
Create a unison, seemless fruit dish that connects
effortlessly and did not have any outlying slots that
did not serve a purpose.

The final design was able to successfully portray the desired
elements from the inspirations. In addition, the modification of interior cuts
added more visual strength with less material used to appeal to a greater sense of
sustainability.

The goal of this project was to create a salt shaker
that changed the simple experience of salting food.
Part of the shaker was required to be 3D printed
and the other part be created by the lathing process.
Through this project, technical dexterous skills
and graphic skills were cultivated.

Turned Salt Shaker
Grant Stohler - Spring 2016

Statement of Intent
The intention of this project was to create a salt shaker that was primarily composed
of turned wood and a 3D printed piece. The challange that this presented was how
could I develop an aesthetically pleasing product that added to the design of the
environment it resided in. My approach was to use the overall flow and shape of the
shaker to engage the user in the experience of something as simple as salting food.

For this project, the purpose of the product was
simple, create a dish to hold candy. With that
said, how could the product be visually appealing
and contribute to the environment it is in.

This product was required to incorporate some sort of zinc die casted element and be
a feature outdoor product. With that said, it is essential to all backpackers to stay hydrated
and warm in all conditions. Sometimes conventional methods of brewing coffee are
inconvenient and time consuming. The Unibrew aims to change that.

Indoor Version
In early ideation, materials such as wood, frosted glass and zinc were
explored, however, these materials were discovered to be impractical
for outdoor usage for reasons such as drop damage, ability to operate
in extreme temperature and even functionality with obstacles such as
gloves on the user’s hands. Through the exploration of different materials,
it was determined that this product would still be functional in the domestic
realm but impractical for outdoor usage.

UniBrew
Compact, unibody design allows for seemless
usage. Two AAA batteries charge the heating
plate upon insertion. As water is inserted into the
basin, it begins heating. Once temperatures are
high enough, water filters through the coffee
grounds or tea leaves and produces the desired
beverage. Fresh, hot beverages anywhere.
The purpose of this project was to create a 3D printed shell for a sample cologne
bottle. The intent of the shell was to enhance the appearance of the sample bottle
and make the appeal of the cologne more desirable. While focusing on the manufacturing
process intently, injection molding factors were taken greatly into account to
fully utilize highly conventional processes of mass production. Because this is a
simple product, it is very beneficial to use less material to save on costs.
