from March 8-10. Organized by the leading 

animal feed industry show organizer, the Netherlands-based 

Victam International, Victam Asia has 

grown to be the major regional event for the feed 

and grain industries. 

This year’s meeting has attracted more than a 

hundred exhibitors and the organizers say that 

pre-registrations indicate record attendance—with 

the vast majority of visitors coming from outside 

Thailand. 

In the following pages we bring you a preview of

The Forberg mixer achieves homogeneous 

mixing in a few seconds, regardless 

of size, shape or density of the product. The 

Forberg mixer is also used for coating powders 

and pellets, providing high capacity, 

low energy mixing. 

A new, third generation technology has 

been launched as a rotating vacuum coater: 

RVC. The coated product can absorb more 

liquid, such as fats, oils and flavors than 

conventional coaters and the final product 

has a dry surface. This unit F-60-RVC will 

be exhibited during Victam 2006. 

Drying is achieved by combining drying 

technology with mixing technology where

cladding technologies designed to protect 

feed equipment from extreme abrasion 

and corrosion. Among the products provided 

for the feed industry are wear-resistant extruder 

barrels, liners, screw segments, dies, 

wear plates and conveyance components. 

Infiltration brazed tungsten carbide cladding 

is uniformly applied to complex geometries, 

providing a protective barrier that wears at 

a consistent and predictable rate. Decreased 

wear rates contribute to greater

While Victam shows have always been the 

main showcase for the feed industry, they 

are also a good place to seek innovations in 

grain processing technology, and Victam 

Asia is no exception. 

German manufacturer of industrial and 

laboratory furnaces and kilns, Linn 

High Therm GmbH, and an Hungarian rice 

miller, Alföldi Malomipari, have developed a 

new process for the production of fast cooking 

rice. The use of microwaves for the heat 

treatment process is the key element of the 

new process. In contrast to conventional 

processes, the microwave process does not 

require an increase in the water content of 

the rice (humidification), prior to the heat 

treatment. The rice is transported through 

the microwave unit and treated with a special 

process, already packed in bags for 

ready cooking. This new treatment reduces

total process time to below one hour and 

lowers the energy requirement drastically. 

Conventional treatment usually takes several 

hours, has high energy consumption 

for pre-cooking and drying of the rice. Due 

to the gentle microwave treatment, Linn 

says this rice has better quality than conventionally 

treated rice.

process has been in operation by Alföldi

T he Lineator from CPM California Pellet 

Mill saves time and money on pelleting. 

With the Lineator, there’s no need to stop 

the pelleting line for roller adjustment and 

downtime from pellet mill plugs becomes a 

thing of the past. 

The Lineator is a remote-controlled, compactly 

designed, pneumatically driven roller 

adjustment system. It ensures operatorsafe, 

precise and quick roller adjustment 

during pellet mill operation. 

The system is easy to use. Instead of operators 

adjusting a roller by hand, the 

Lineator lets them do it easily from a remote 

location – never touching the rollers. 

The controller can be positioned beside the 

pellet mill or in a remote location. An LED 

roller position indicator allows the operator 

to use previous experience to reset the optimal 

roller settings. 

Die and roller wear are greatly reduced with 

the Lineator by opening the roller gap once 

pelleting has begun. This eliminates detrimental 

metal-to-metal contact. Also, simple 

correction factors, programmed into the 

controller, allow for easy wear compensation. 

With few wearing parts, the Lineator is simple

Because the Lineator allows you to adjust 

the rollers while the pellet mill is in operation, 

a thick-pad pelleting technique can be 

used, putting more work into the meal and 

producing a higher quality pellet. 

The Lineator features a mechanical drive 

inside-the-die cavity constructed of 

stainless steel. It comes grease packed and 

totally sealed. The Lineator does not have 

hydraulics, pneumatics or any lubricating 

oils inside the die cavity, so there is no 

chance of oil contaminating the product. An 

air motor drive is mounted at the rear of 

the pellet mill, inside a unique multiport 

swivel system, allowing normal shear pin 

protection. A wall-mounted control panel 

provides pushbutton adjustment of the 

roller gap and includes a numeric gap reading. 

Compressed air at 90 psi and 44 scfm 

and 24V DC power are required.
