07 SKILLS TESTS AND SUPPORT Offers of a place on a postgraduate ITT course are conditional, subject to successful completion of the Government Professional Skills Tests in Numeracy and Literacy. We are proud to be able to offer numeracy and literacy skills test support workshops. There is currently no charge to applicants with a conditional offer from Canterbury Christ Church. Those students who have been made a conditional offer who have not completed the tests will be sent an invite to sign up for one of the support sessions on offer. For further details about the Skills Tests, including practice literary and numeracy materials visit: www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching. CHANGES TO APPLICATIONS Each year the Government implement an approach to the allocation and recruitment to postgraduate ITT places based upon current policies, priorities and on assessment of the number of trainees needed. We encourage you to make an application as soon as possible after the UCAS Teacher Training system opens in October. For queries relating to the allocation of places contact the Department for Education on freephone 0800 389 2500 or visit: https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/get-helpand-support OTHER PRE-ENTRY REQUIREMENTS In addition to the general entry requirements for your chosen course, you will also be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS formerly CRB). We also check all students against the list of those prohibited from teaching held by the NCTL. If you are applying for primary or EYITT routes you will be required to make a selfdeclaration under the Childcare Disqualification Regulations.
