Prior to beginning work on this interactive assignment, review Microsoft’s HomeGroup Overview article<br />
(sections 2.1 <strong>and</strong> 2.3), <strong>and</strong> any relevant information in this week’s lecture.<br />
For this interactive assignment, imagine you are venturing into the job market <strong>and</strong> would like to further develop<br />
your network <strong>and</strong> system administrator skills. Having these skills will look good on your resume <strong>and</strong> increase<br />
your chances of getting a job quickly. To help with this, you take on the task of configuring the various<br />
computers <strong>and</strong> peripherals in your home office so that each computer will have access to files <strong>and</strong> computer<br />
resources linked to the group. You know from your BABIS degree studies that the ideal configuration to<br />
address this requirement is to establish a HomeGroup. You recalled that HomeGroup is a networking feature of<br />
Microsoft Windows that provides a method for Windows 7 <strong>and</strong> newer PCs to share resources, including<br />
printers <strong>and</strong> different types of files, with each other.<br />
For this <strong>Interactive</strong> <strong>Assignment</strong>, you have the task to:<br />
1. Create the HomeGroup,<br />
2. Provide a PDF including a screenshot of the HomeGroup password, <strong>and</strong><br />
3. Address the points below in your post:<br />
1. Define a HomeGroup.<br />
2. Discuss the benefits <strong>and</strong> values of integrating a HomeGroup configuration.<br />
3. Suggest skills <strong>and</strong> experiences one could identify on the resume from developing a home<br />
computer network.<br />
For this interactive assignment, access your virtual lab environment <strong>and</strong> follow the instructions provided within<br />
the Week2 Lab1 - <strong>Underst<strong>and</strong></strong> <strong>Domains</strong>, <strong>Workgroups</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>HomeGroups</strong> (available in the classroom).<br />
Within your virtual lab environment, you will follow the instructions provided. In the virtual lab, create a PDF<br />
with a screenshot of the “Use this password to add other computers to your homegroup” page in Task 3 -<br />
Create a New HomeGroup Step 9. Once you have completed the exercise within the virtual lab, download the<br />
PDF <strong>and</strong> attach it to your initial post.<br />
Your initial post should be a minimum of 350 words.
Guided Response: Review several of your colleagues’ posts, <strong>and</strong> respond to at least two of your peers by<br />
11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the week to<br />
promote more meaningful interactive discourse in this interactive assignment.<br />
Evaluate the applicability of your peer’s discussion on the benefits of integrating a HomeGroup configuration.<br />
Identify any benefits of integrating a HomeGroup configuration to add to your peer’s list. Identify at least two<br />
limitations to integrating this configuration. Comment on the suggested skills one could identify <strong>and</strong> add to<br />
his/her resume from developing a home computer network as identified by your peer.<br />
