Foundation Report
The Bendigo Art Gallery Foundation has continued
to support the Gallery through fundraising and
by encouraging philanthropic donations.
The Foundation would like to thank all of
our donors, and in particular to recognise
the following generous supporters who have
made contributions throughout the year;

Significant changes to the construct of Trustees
occurred since the start of this reporting period.
During the year the Foundation received the
resignation of its Independent Chairman Mr Ian
Mansbridge, Treasurer Mr Ken Belfrage and
Gallery Board Chair Mr Gordon McKern. Both
Ian and Gordon have been involved with the
Foundation since its inception year in 2008. Ian
had been Chairman for the past 5 years and Ken,
Treasurer for 5 years. The Trustees are indebted
to the work and expertise that these three
gentlemen brought to the establishment and
oversight of the Foundation.
I consider it a privilege to have been invited to
assume the role of Chairman from August last
year. The role of Treasurer has been assumed by
Mr David Richardson. David is also the Treasurer
for the Bendigo Art Gallery, ensuring that synergies
are exploited regarding the administration over
Gallery funds. Mr Howard Nathan QC was
appointed Trustee in March 2016.
The Trustees individual standing, passion
and expertise admirably fulfil the requirements
of Trustees as stipulated within the Foundation
Trust Deed.
The Foundation continues to provide strong
governance over donor’s gifts for the exclusive
benefit of meeting the objects of the Bendigo
Art Gallery – indeed one of Australia’s finest
regional art galleries.
