5 Ways to Slow Down Aging
Aging is just a part of life. While you certainly can’t avoid getting older, there are certainly things you can do to prevent
aging and the effects from stress and the environment from appearing on your face. Here are five helpful ways to slow
down aging and ensure that you’re putting your best face forward each and every day.
#1 – Stay Hydrated
Your skin relies on water to remain healthy. A good way to think about it is that your skin is a reflection of what is
happening inside your body. If you’re dehydrated, your skin will reflect it. If you’re well-hydrated, your skin will reflect
that, too. Try consuming about ¾ of a gallon of water throughout the day, and try staying away from highly caffeinated
beverages and alcohol, which can have a drying effect. You’ll notice the results very quickly.
#2 – Get Moving
A lot of the way your skin looks on the outside has to do with the way your body is delivering oxygen and nutrients to
the cells at its surface. If you live a sedentary lifestyle, then getting up and moving could vastly improve the way your
skin looks. What’s more, when you sweat, your body releases toxins. As more and more of these toxins are excreted,
your body begins to feel better – and your skin starts to look amazing.
#3 – Get Enough Sleep
“Beauty sleep” is a real thing, and if you aren’t getting enough, your appearance will suffer. Chronic sleep loss can
increase the likelihood of age-related diseases, throw all of your hormones out of balance, and even increase the risk
that you might have a stroke or heart attack. Try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day to establish a
great sleep pattern, and aim for seven to nine hours each night.
#4 – Eat Right
Yet another adage, “You are what you eat”, certainly rings true when it comes to aging. In today’s world filled with
quick-fix processed foods, the number of chemicals you consume each day is mind-blowing. There’s nothing wrong with
the occasional splurge, but for the most part, keep an eye on your diet and consume foods that are as natural as
possible. Eat more fresh produce, and cut out refined sugars. You’ll see a major difference in a matter of days.
#5 – Consider Supplements

Supplements certainly aren’t right for everyone, and if you have a health condition or you take a prescription
medication, you should always talk to your doctor before adding them. Some of the best options include fish oil, which
provides a healthy source of omega-3 fatty acids needed to help improve cellular regeneration in the skin. Antioxidants
like CoQ10, ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid), and glutathione can all help to fight off free radicals and prevent cellular damage
before it starts.
Many of the steps you can take to slow aging significantly are simple, and the vast majority cost you nothing at all. In
fact, for the most part, it’s all about making (and committing to) a few simple lifestyle changes that will result in a
healthier, younger-looking you.
