HOW DO I KNOW THE SIZE OF THE PRODUCT? 

Check the dimensions on the product page or call us for more information. 

WILL IT FIT UP MY STAIRS? 

When ordering a large item, be sure to check that your door widths and stair widths (if necessary) will 

enable access. Don't forget to check floor maximum weight allowance too – those large marble tables 

weigh over 250kilos! 

WILL IT SCRATCH THE FLOOR? 

Some of the chairs have an option of either glides for a soft or hard floor. 

HOW MANY CHAIRS FIT AROUND A TABLE? 

This depends on the shape of the table, however as a guide you will need 600-700mm width per 

person. 

CAN THE CUSHION COVERS BE WASHED? 

Yes, dry cleaned.

Because of progress in plastics technology, the Panton Chair has been through a number of production phases 

since its original launch. The last version of the chair authorised by Verner Panton was produced in 

collaboration with the designer at the end of the 1990s. This model realised one of Panton’s fundamental 

objectives for the first time: a plastic chair as an inexpensive industrial product.

Saarinen Tulip Chair and Stool In his purist approach to architecture and interior design, Finnish-born Eero 

Saarinen sought the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution within an overall 

unity of design. In Tulip, a single-legged chair made from fiberglass-reinforced resin, Saarinen realized his 

ideal of formal unity: “Every significant piece of furniture from the past has a holistic structure.” Winner of the 

1969 Museum of Modern Art Award, the chair is available with or without arms,and with complementary 

stools and tables.

At the beginning of the 1950s Prouve designed the EM Table for the ‘Maison Tropique’ project. With every 

single detail governed by its construction, the table follows the aesthetics of necessity. It illustrates the force 

vectors and static connections more commonly seen in the context of civil engineering works.

Saarinen Dining Tables in his purist approach to architecture and interior design, Eero Saarinen sought the 

essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution within an overall unity of design. “The 

underside of typical chairs and tables makes a confusing, unrestful world,” explained Saarinen. “i wanted to 

clear up the slum of legs.” in his pedestal collection, which includes a dining, coffee and side table, Saarinen 

realized his ideal of formal unity. The tables are available with laminate, marble, or veneer tops with a base in 

black or white .

Tops are available in bevel-edged satin smooth laminate, and in the following veneers: natural maple, oak, 

ebonised oak, walnut, santos rosewood and teak. Coated marble tops feature a transparent polyester coating 

to help eliminate use-associated stains.

Bertoia barstool Harry Bertoia's 1950 experiment with bending metal rods into practical art produced a 

revered collection of seating, including this environment-enhancing barstool. Innovative, comfortable and 

strikingly handsome, the Bertoia barstool's delicate filigree appearance belies its strength and durability. In 

Bertoia's own words, “If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes 

through them.” The barstool is available in counter and bar height.

The frame is a welded steel construction with rods in polish or satin chrome. Seat cushions have fabric edges 

and secure to chair with lock-snaps.

Bertoia

For the design of Tabouret Haut Jean Prouve drew on a traditional type of bar stool that is still in common use 

today: a round seat disc resting on top of four long, canted legs. A ring is mounted to the inside of the legs at 

about a third of their height from the floor, increasing the rigidity of the construction and also serving as a 

comfortable footrest. Prouve’s interpretation of this classic type is distinguished by its simple, unpretentious 

appearance, lucid construction and harmonious proportions.

The barstool concentrates the outer bucket characteristic of the Turtle range, to a minimum. The inner 

supportive bucket provides secure support whilst the footrest is the perfect continuation of the sweeping

Charles Eames’ declared aim for the Lounge Chair and Ottoman was to combine the utmost comfort with highend

Coconut 


The coconut Chair is a typical 1950s design - it stands out for its humorous touch, formal clarity and minimal 

use of materials. Nelson himself compared it with a coconut cut into eight parts and inverted and the 

coconut’s colours: the plastic seat shell is white, while the single -section upholstery comes in a variety of 

colours. This return to the natural spatial shape of a shell enabled Nelson to create an inviting, comfortable 

armchair that offers users the freedom to sit in countless different positions.

Cite Armchair is one of Prouve’s early masterpieces, designed for a competition to furnish the halls of 

residence at Nancy’s cite universitaire. Prouve himself used this armchair with dynamic appearance, its 

characteristic coated sheet steel rockers and broad leather arm support straps in the living room of his house.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec created this expansive armchair by using an extremely strong, precisely shaped 

knit which is stretched over the metal frame like a fitted stocking. Thanks to the knit sling cover, the Slow Chair

Amoebe 


Severall versions of Amoebe were created in 1970 for Verner Panton’s Vision a installation. It is a marvellous 

example of close-to-the-floor lounge furniture and embodies the zestful, cheeky spirit of the early 1970s. In 

vibrant, radiant colours, with its flexible backrest shell the re-edition delivers even better sitting comfort. 

Amoebe Highback has a flexible backrest that curves over the head of the sitter, forming a sculptural canopy. 

In this way, Amoebe Highback creates a sense of shelter and seclusion - especially in large, open spaces.

Barcelona chair and stool Created by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for his 1929 German Pavilion at the 

International Exhibition in Barcelona, the Barcelona Collection's pure composition came to epitomize 

Modern architecture. From the hand-buffed stainless or chrome frame to the individual leather squares 

carefully welted together, each Barcelona piece is a tribute to traditional craftsmanship and meticulous 

attention to detail. In addition to the chair and stool, the collection also includes a couch and a stool with 

black cowhide sling, as well as a child scale version of the iconic chair.

Polish chrome structure hand-buffed and hand-finished to a mirror finish. The cushions are upholstered with 

40 individual panels cut, hand-welted and hand-tufted from a single hide. Seat and back cushions adapt to

CUSTOMERS OWN MATERIAL 

Vehyster Ltd is pleased to cooperate with customer's own fabric and leather requests. A sample 

cutting will need to be submitted to Vehyster Ltd for preliminary approval. The sample should 

measure a minimum of 200 x 200mm for a solid colour or if the material has a repeat pattern, then the 

sample needs to be large enough to show the repeat. 

Even after preliminary approval, Vehyster Ltd reserves the right to reject the material if it is felt during the 

manufacturing process the material is inadequate for any reason. If a material is rejected, this will not 

necessarily mean the product is defective in any way. It only implies a less than perfect upholstery 

performance could be achieved across the form and structure of the proposed furniture piece. 

When the customers own material has been accepted, Vehyster Ltd assumes no responsibility for its 

appearance, durability or colour-fastness. 

Each product will have a unique material requirement, and total quantities should be obtained from 

Vehyster Ltd. Upholstery requirements are based on 1300mm widths for fabric as a minimum and 

leather requirements are based on whole hides with a minimum of 4.5m2 per complete hide. 

MATERIAL NOTES 

Standard leathers are all first quality full grain. Vehyster Ltd do not specify leather that has been sanded, 

embossed and artificially textured to hide barbed wire or branding marks, scars, and 

other blemishes. In time, top grain painted or enhanced leathers will crack, chip and peel. Leathers 

supplied on products supplied by Vehyster Ltd are tanned to preserve the leather and enhance its 

natural characteristics. 

All leathers supplied by Vehyster Ltd are procured as by-products of the meat industry. No animal has 

been raised for its hide alone. 

NATURAL MATERIALS 

Leather, marble and wood make up a large part of the materials shown within this Home Catalogue. 

Each natural product is different and has its own characteristics, even when sourced from the same 

forest, quarry or animal. Marble will have different hues, veins, crystals, clouds and even fossils from 

stone to stone. 

Leather differs from animal to animal, therefore each hide will have its own unique life-marks and 

texture. Range marks, texture and skin stretches are not camouflaged during the tanning process, and 

are retained to keep the natural feel of the material. Colours and texture vary, and will do so more as 

the product matures and the leather mellows taking on a rich patina. The leather, marble and wood 

shown in the Vehyster Ltd Home Catalogue cannot be precisely duplicated across products as the 

materials used are not man-made. 

Rejection of product on the above basis will not be considered a viable reason for return.

General Information 

PRODUCT MAINTENANCE 

With the correct care, your furniture should last many years. To help with the longevity of the furniture, 

we recommend the following care and cleaning tips. 

TEXTILES 

Wipe all spills immediately. Brush and vacuum every three to four months. Use a foam upholstery 

cleaner as directed twice a year or more often if required. We always recommend a hidden section of 

the material of tested first for colour-fastness. 

LEATHER 

Full grain leather is undemanding. It breathes, has a life of its own and requires very little care. It should 

be abused with harsh chemicals, waxes, polish or mink oils as these will clog the pores of the hide. A 

periodic with a damp cloth is a sufficient means to cleaning under normal conditions. 

WOOD 

Clean with a commercial brand of liquid furniture polish twice a month. For stubborn dirt of light 

scratches, rub the area very lightly with steel wool before using furniture polish, To rejuvenate luster, 

apply a furniture cream as a last step. Do not use water or household solvents as they will destroy the 

lacquer or protective finish. 

MARBLE 

Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft dry cloth. Wipe of stains and liquid spills immediately with 

water and a soft cloth. Never use steel wool or other abrasives on marble. 

LAMINATE 

Clean with household soaps or detergents well dissolved in water – never apply cleaning fluids 

directly to the product surface. Rinse and dry with a damp clean soft cloth. 


STAINLESS STEEL 

Use non-abrasive household cleaners. For small scratches rub with mild abrasives in the direction of 

the grain. Apply a coat of car wax to maintain appearance. 

CHROME/ SATIN CHROME 

Clean with a car chrome cleaner twice a month, Apply a coat of hard paste wax to protect against

Clean with non-abrasive cleaning solutions. If discolouration occurs, rub lightly with a fine steel wool 

to restore luster. Touch up with a clear lacquer to prevent oxidation. 

POLISHED ALUMINIUM 

Clean with non-abrasive cleaning solutions. Coat of hard paste wax to semi-annually, to maintain luster 

and prevent discolouration.

Terms & Conditions 

1. GENERAL 

1.1. These Conditions of Sale apply to all Contracts for the sale of Goods and/or the supply of services entered into by Vehyster Ltd ("the 

Company"). They apply in preference to and supersede any terms referred to, offered or relied on by either party whether in 

negotiations or at any stage in the dealings between the Company and the Client with reference to the Goods and/or the Services. Nor 

will the Company be bound by any standard or printed terms furnished by the Client in any of its documents. 

1.2. The terms defined in the Quotations/ Estimates/ Order Acknowledgments and Confirmation of Orders (“the Order Forms”) shall apply in 

these Conditions, which are subject to any Special Terms stated therein. 

1.3. All Orders presented either written or verbally by the Client shall be deemed an offer by the Client to purchase the Goods and / or 

Services pursuant to these Conditions and subject to any Special Terms stated therein. 

1.4. All Confirmation of Order Forms issued by the Company shall be deemed an acceptance by the Company of the client's offer to 

purchase the Goods and / or Services pursuant to these Conditions and subject to any Special Terms stated therein and shall constitute a 

binding contract (“the contract”) 

1.5. The Contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties relating to its subject matter, and supersedes any previous agreement 

between the parties relating to that matter. Each party acknowledges that it has not entered into the Contract on the basis of, and does 

not rely on, any representation, warranty or other provision that is not expressly included in the contract. The Contract may only be varied 

in writing, under the signature of both parties or their authorised representatives. All or any additional costs and expenses in respect of 

any change or variations shall be agreed as a precondition of same. No delay or omission of either party in exercising any right or remedy 

in whole or in part shall be construed as a waiver of it, or operate so as to limit or preclude any further or other exercise of it. 

1.6. The contract is subject to English Law. 

2. GOODS 

2.1. All descriptions of the Goods are given by way of identification only and the use of any such description shall not constitute a sale or 

description. The Company maintains a policy of continuous product improvement, and reserves the right to alter specifications without 

notice at any time before delivery. 

2.2. If a sample of the Goods has been exhibited to and inspected by the Client the Contract shall not constitute a sale by sample. 

2.3. Subject as above, the Company shall replace the Goods free of charge upon written notification by the Client within 7 days of delivery if 

they are found to be materially different from those ordered, of defective workmanship or of a significantly lesser quality than that 

specified by the Company in writing or subsequent to the Order Form. 

3. SERVICES 

3.1. All Services described in the Order Forms shall be provided by the Company to the Client at the Price specified for those Services in the 

Order Forms or as may be agreed between the Company and the Client, failing which the Company's usual rates for such services shall 

apply. 

3.2. The Company will only be liable in respect of installation work carried out by itself, its employees, agents or sub-contractors, but will not 

be so liable in any case where there are direct contractual relations between the Client and an installing party other than the Company. In 

any event the Company's liability for installation work shall be limited to the correction of any failure to use reasonable skill and care and 

liability for any death or personal injury caused by the negligence of persons in respect of whom the Company is vicariously liable. The 

Client shall be responsible for the safety of the personnel of the Company or of its sub-contractors whilst on the Clients premises, shall 

comply with all relevant statutory requirements and shall maintain adequate insurance against the appropriate risks. 

4. DELIVERY 

4.1. The Company will deliver the Goods to the Delivery Address stated in the Order Forms by any method of transport at the Company's 

option and shall (if included in the Services) install them or arrange for their installation at that address. The Client shall pay any 

applicable delivery charge incurred by the Company, which shall be added to the Price. The Company may make part deliveries. 

4.2. If a Delivery Date is specified the Company will aim to despatch the goods by then, but does not guarantee to do so. Time of delivery 

shall not be of the essence to the Contract. 

4.3. The Company shall not be liable for any damage, loss, the non-delivery or shortage suffered by the Goods whilst in transit unless the 

Client gives written notification of same to the Company within 7 days of delivery, or within such time as the Company may notify to the 

Client is sufficient to enable the Company to comply with its carrier's requirements for claims. 

4.4. The Company shall not be liable for any non-delivery of part of any consignment of the Goods unless the Client gives written notification 

of same to the Company within 7 day of delivery of the rest of the consignment. 

4.5. If delivery is delayed by any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Company a reasonable extension of time for delivery shall be 

granted and the Client shall pay such reasonable extra charges as shall have been occasioned by the delay. Alternatively, the Company 

may cancel the Contract, in which case it shall refund to the Client in full the amount of the Price paid to date. 

5. PRICE 

5.1. Any price(s) stated in the Order Forms or otherwise notified by the Company or agreed by the parties are based on costs currently 

prevailing in respect of the Goods and/or Services stated. 

5.2 The Company reserves the right to pass on any variation in price incurred for reasons including material increases in costs which occur 

outside the Company's reasonable control. 

5.3. All prices are inclusive of VAT, except where expressly stated otherwise.

6. PAYMENT 

6.1. Payment terms are 100% pro-forma on placement of order, as stated in the order form. 

6.2. If payment of the Price or any part of it is not made by the due date, the Company shall be entitled to charge interest on the outstanding 

amount, (both before and after any judgement) at the rate of 5% per annum above the Base Rate from time to time of HSBC Bank Plc 

accruing daily. 

7. PROPERTY 

7.1. The risk in the Goods shall pass to the Client upon delivery. 

7.2. The legal ownership of the Goods shall not pass to the Client until the Price, and any other indebtedness of the Client of the Company, has 

been paid in full. 

7.3. Until then the Client shall: 

7.3.1. Hold the Goods in a fiduciary capacity as the Company's bailee; 

7.3.2. Store the Goods separately, so that they may be readily identified as the Company's property; 

7.3.3. Adequately insure the Goods; 

7.3.4. Upon demand, return the Goods to the Company or allow the Company access to any premises where they may be stored in order to 

recover them; 

7.3.5. Not resell the Goods, except in the ordinary course of its business, in which case it shall hold the proceeds of sale upon trust, pay them 

into a separate identified account, and account to the Company for them upon demand. 

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS 

8.1. All design right, copyright, patent rights and other intellectual property rights in all designs, drawings, goods or documents produced or 

supplied by the Company shall be owned by the Company, even if they have been commissioned by the Client. 

8.2. Any such rights in any such things produced, supplied or made available by the Client shall remain the property of the Client, and the 

Client warrants its title to them to the Company, except as expressly disclosed in writing, and agrees to indemnify the Company against 

any claims by third parties in respect of infringement of their intellectual property rights. 

8.3. The Client shall not remove, alter, deface or tamper with any of the trade or other marks, names or numbers affixed to or marked on the 

Goods, or allow anyone else to do so. 

9. CANCELLATION BY CLIENT 

9.1. The Client may not cancel the Contract nor return any Goods which comply with the Contract unless the Company specifically agrees to 

same and in the case of any returned Goods only within 7 days of delivery. In such a case the Client shall pay a cancellation fee of 50% of 

the Price together with full return delivery charges and all or any other costs of cancellation incurred by the Company from its suppliers or 

manufactures all of which shall be deducted from the Deposit. The balance (if any) shall be refunded. 

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY 

10.1 The total amount of all liabilities of the Company to the Client, except those whose limitation or exclusion is prohibited by law, shall be 

limited to the Price (excluding VAT). 

10.2. The Conditions state the entire liability of the Company to the Client, and the Company shall be under no liability whatsoever to the Client 

other than that expressly stated above, whether contractual or otherwise, except to the extent that its exclusion is prohibited by law.
