Their 175-bottle list is all sourced from 115 wineries only in Washington and Oregon; and Wednesday is half-off wines. “We’re going to make your evening memorable, that’s our specialty,” Lyman said. “Even if you’re in boat shorts or sneakers, you’re welcome – just come in and feel comfortable.” If you love Brix 25, you’ll love Netshed No. 9 — a sister restaurant by the same owners. Netshed No. 9 is a different atmosphere with the same quality. “I’m very proud of the work my team does down there,” Lyman said. Seafood pasta with shrimp, salmon and scallops is a delight at JW Restaurant. “They provide great service in a world-class setting and immerse you in what is Gig Harbor.” Located in a refurbished netshed along the water, you can sit inside the rustic eatery, or even outside on a sunny day, as you eat in the American-style cafe. “We do unique interpretations of classic American food, which makes it fun and exciting,” Lyman said. But other treasures have come out of these two restaurants. Previous Brix 25 manager, Jason Winniford, is the owner of JW Restaurant in Gig Harbor. For the past five years in a row, JW Restaurant has won numerous area magazine awards, including 2015 Best Romantic Dinner and Best Chef in the South Sound. But Winniford didn’t stop with his restaurant. His newest dream-cometrue is yours too. Recently opened is Winniford’s JW at the Boatyard food trolley next to Skansie Brothers Park. “We are looking forward to providing Gig Harbor with something new, fun and exciting,” said Jamie Lindsey, general manager at JW Restaurant. “Food trucks are becoming more and more popular, so we want to be one of the first food trucks in the harbor.” The food trolley is just that — a refurbished shiny red trolley that will serve seafood-focused plates. “The chefs will focus on seafood — lobster rolls, calamari, salmon chowder, also non-seafood brats, pulled pork sandwiches, ice cream. There’s also a kids menu, gluten-free items, salads, grilled salmon and more,” Lindsey said. With all of their gourmet cuisine, Lindsey said it is more of an outdoor restaurant than a food truck. “There is also a large undercover area where you can sit, and even a fireplace,” Lindsey said. If there’s one thing Washington does right, it is the many amazing breweries and distilleries, and Gig Harbor has several of mention. 7 Seas Brewing, located in the heart of Gig Harbor, offers a family-friendly taproom and beer garden. Have a glass of rye whiskey in the tasting room of Heritage Distilling Co. of events and handcrafted pints, this brewery is hopping. Bring your own food or pick something up at their food truck The Galley, which is open Thursday-Sunday. For some appealing spirits, visit Heritage Distilling Company. The owner, Justin Stiefel grew up in Spokane, and started distilling his first batch in seventh grade and has never looked back. Since then, Heritage has racked up awards for 2014 and 2015 by the American Distilling Institute. “We’ve been the most awarded craft distillery for the last few years, and we’ve only been open a few years,” said Gabby Gore, Heritage operations assistant. “We have awards on flavored vodkas, gins and whiskeys and we’re family-owned.” Not only do you get some great spirits, but you can also begin to discover and put your finger on what you love as you taste and tour their facility. Gore said they have two locations in Gig Harbor, each with a different atmosphere. Get quiet tours and tastings for $5 at their flagship location at 3207 57th St. Court NW by appointment, or go with the crowd at their downtown location at 3118 Harborview Drive for a busy and vibrant environment.
