water Trends program:
“rising to the surface: Groundwater
Elevation monitoring (sbx7 6)”
SBX7 6 has been signed into law. Every
basin in California must be monitored for
elevation by 2012 in an effort to demonstrate
seasonal and long-term trends in
the basin/subbasin(s). According to the
statute, the monitoring program will help
better manage groundwater resources
during both normal water years and
drought conditions. So, what does it really
mean for water agencies? Representatives
from the California Department of
Water Resources and seasoned groundwater
agency experts will discuss the
implementation of the legislation and how
it will affect future local and sustainable
groundwater management.
