We were raised on the ski slopes of Iceland and after we finished our careers in
alpine racing which took us both to the World Cup and The Winter Olympics we
turned our passion to ski guiding and backcountry skiing. We were lucky enough
to have literally in our backyard a vast and amazing terrain with thousands of
slopes waiting for a first decent. So we put together a powerful team of ski guides
and made our base in the beautiful Ólafsfjörður in the North of Iceland.
Tröllaskagi (the Troll peninsula) our main skiing area has countless peaks and
the rare possibilty to ski from a summit directly down to the ocean. We can take
you to slopes that fit every type of skiing, from the steep and gnarly to the wide
and gentle.
We’re truly proud to welcome you to explore our beautiful country and go on a
unique skiing adventure with the Vikings.

THE LODGES
The exclusive Viking Heliskiing Lodges are located at the Þverá
farmstead in Ólafsfjörður. Surrounded by towering mountains
guests can ski directly down to their Lodge for the last run of the
day.
The main Lodge contains the dining area where our chef prepares
top notch dinners for our guests with focus on fresh Icelandic
4 food, such as goose, lamb and arctic char.

Our guests will have their own 100m² private Lodge that has two
bedrooms, a living room and a hot tub.
After an active day in the mountains the ideal afternoon is to sit
down at the bar in the main Lodge and unwind with a glass of
wine or a pint of the Icelandic Viking beer and watch our chef
prepare the dinner.

unforgettable through their warm welcome, the great food at
the lodge, the amazing skiing & snowboarding and the great
atmosphere among the whole crew at Viking helisking.

THE TROLL PENINSULA
A SKIERS PARADISE
In terms of heliskiing, there are few places in the world with as
many possibilities as the Troll peninsula. The area is vast and
largely unexplored. Fantastic slopes in a unique scenery.
Prepare for different skiing conditions; fresh powder, windblown
powder or stable spring corn snow, which is perfect for steep
extreme skiing and more exposed lines. Our vertical drop is up
to 1500m or approximately 5000 ft.
During winter you can ski until it is dark and watch the majestic
northern lights dance in the sky. In the springtime, there is
nothing like skiing down slopes in between the towering peaks,
ending the ride where the shoreline meets the North Atlantic.

AS IT HAPPENS
THE DAY OF ARRIVAL
Guests will be picked up at Akureyri airport and driven to the Viking Heliskiing Lodge. Guests
can also be picked up in Akureyri by our helicopter upon request. When check-in at our Lodge is
completed our guests will have a short meeting with other skiers and the Viking Heliskiing guides.
After the meeting and a little chat, dinner is served in the main Lodge. In the evening guests can
relax and enjoy a drink and some snacks while studying the program for the days ahead.
READY FOR THE THRILL OF YOUR LIFE?
You better be – you are staying with the Vikings and you are about to experience the adventure of
a lifetime. We bring you heliskiing, adventure and spectacular views and unforgettable moments.

After breakfast there will be a short briefing on avalanche safety and beacon training, helicopter
safety, and ski-/snowboard equipment adjustment, just so everyone will be ready.
Then the fun part starts; heliskiing/helisnowboarding down new lines to the Arctic Ocean. Terrain
selection is determined by the guides and is based on avalanche assessment, weather and the
skiing ability of the group. Your safety is our number one priority.
After a few runs we will find a spot for our lunch which will be served outside on the mountain,
picnic style. Then our ride continues through the day. Viking Heliskiing has reached an agreement
with some of the local farmers, allowing us to drop in at the farms to taste Icelandic shark, smoked
arctic char or even smoked lamb.
After skiing each day you can enjoy some of the adventure packages. Later in the evening the group
will have dinner together in the Viking Heliskiing Lodge and discuss the great runs and adventures
of the day.
In case of bad weather and down days you have an opportunity to explore Iceland in a different
way and enjoy all the activities we have to offer.
DEPARTURE DAY
After breakfast we will head out to the mountains to enjoy our last day. On the schedule today is
exploring more new lines and stunning views. The last run of the day will be a Home Run, skiing all
the way down to the Lodge where you can for the last time jump in the hot tub before enjoying the
final drink and saying goodbye to your guides and your new friends.
Guests will be driven back to Akureyri where they can either go straight to the airport or spend
some time in Akureyri. Upon request we can also use our helicopter to fly you back to Akureyri.
It can be hard to leave, but all fairy tales have to end. But keep in mind that you are always welcome
back to join the Vikings and for another amazing chapter in your life.

SMALL VILLAGES

Ólafsfjörður, known for its snowy winters and surrounded by
towering mountains on all sides, is one of the northernmost towns in
Iceland. The area known as Fjallabyggð, which includes the villages of
Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður, has enjoyed a major uplift over the last
few years. In terms of heliskiing, there are few places in the world with
as many possibilities as the Troll peninsula. The area is vast and largely
unexplored. The skiing slopes are truly unique, with a panorama view
of amazing slopes waiting for their first descents.

ADVENTURES
Viking Heliskiing offers special adventure tours to some of
Iceland’s most fascinating destinations or other exciting activities.
Our guests have the opportunity to explore Iceland in a different
way. We offer you to take part in all of our adventure packages that
consist for example of whale watching, sea angling, horseback
riding or even a trip to the great nature baths in Mývatn or the
famous Grettislaug natural pool.

CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
Located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Iceland is close to both Europe and
North-America.
It will take you between 3-4 hours to get to Iceland from most West-European
cities and between 5-7 hours from North-America.
Domestic Flight to North Iceland
Your flight arrives at Keflavík International Airport where we can provide a shuttle
to Reykjavík Airport, approximately a 40 minute drive. From there you will fly
to Akureyri Airport where we will be ready to pick you up and drive you to the
Viking Heliskiing Lodge. You can also choose to arrive in style and be picked up
by aViking Heliskiing helicopter and fly directly to our Lodge.
If you are arriving on a private jet you can fly directly to Akureyri Airport (BIAR)
where our staff will pick you up.
