Less than two months after<br />

placing first in the single-tandem<br />

division of the Ontario finals,<br />

and in the face of heavy rain,<br />

Home Hardware driver Bryon<br />

Winfield earned the title of Grand<br />

Champion at the National Truck<br />

Driving Championship. Winfield<br />

previously won the single-tandem<br />

class at the Ontario level in 2014,<br />

2012 and 2008. Not only did Home<br />

Hardware produce the 2016 Grand<br />

Champion, the drivers of the<br />

famed yellow trucks also combined<br />

to win the 2016 team award.<br />

Peterbilt, Kenworth dealers<br />

honored by PACCAR Parts<br />

Canadian Peterbilt and Kenworth dealers were counted among those honored<br />

during the 2016 Parts and Service Meeting for PACCAR parts, service and executive<br />

managers in Orlando, Florida. Camions Excellence Peterbilt secured the Best in Class<br />

Parts and Service Dealer of the Year Award. Peterbilt of Manitoba – Winnipeg was a<br />

Service Excellence Award winner. Kenworth Truck Centers of Ontario secured a Silver<br />

Award in the Kenworth-related honors.<br />

Praught named VP at<br />

Transcourt Tank<br />

Transcourt Tank Leasing has appointed Carol Praught<br />

as vice president of finance. Praught comes to Transcourt<br />

with more than 25 years of experience in corporate and<br />

operations finance, primarily within the transportation<br />

industry. She will be tasked with directing Transcourt’s financial<br />

operations and managing all internal financial strategies.<br />

She will also lead human resources functions.<br />

Stratton regional director for Meritor<br />

Meritor has appointed Dean Stratton as regional director of field sales and service<br />

for Canada. Based in British Columbia, Stratton leads six DriveForce district managers responsible<br />

for sales and service support for fleets, dealers and original equipment manufacturers<br />

in the Canadian region. Meritor says he will work to identify new products that meet specialized<br />

fleet needs within different markets across Canada. Most recently, Stratton was district<br />

manager of sales for Western Star Trucks, a division of Daimler Trucks North America.<br />

Rempel first<br />

woman to lead<br />

convoy<br />

Debbie Rempel had a frontrow<br />

seat at the World’s Largest<br />

Truck Convoy to support<br />

Special Olympics in Winnipeg,<br />

Manitoba. She was the top<br />

fundraiser for the event this<br />

September, raising $2,180 with<br />

help from her employer – and<br />

that gave her the honor of leading<br />

192 trucks around the Winnipeg<br />

Perimeter. “Felt like I had won<br />

the lottery, except way better,”<br />

says the driver with Burnbrae<br />

Farms. Rempel has a personal<br />

connection to the charity. Her<br />

own brother has competed as<br />

a bowler in Special Olympics.<br />

“I hope to raise double next year,”<br />

she adds.<br />
