Product Description<br />

An important aspect of technology management is develop<strong>in</strong>g the skills to research a<br />

technology and identify the capabilities, application, and implications of its adoption<br />

and use with<strong>in</strong> an organization. This research paper will allow students to evaluate an<br />

emerg<strong>in</strong>g technology based on broad <strong>in</strong>dustry practices and specific organizational<br />

needs.<br />

Students will research and select an emerg<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong>novative technology and discuss the<br />

impact of the technology on bus<strong>in</strong>ess. Students may choose a new, orig<strong>in</strong>al<br />

technology solution, or identify the emergent application of a currently exist<strong>in</strong>g<br />

solution. The research topic will be chosen <strong>in</strong> the first module, and students will<br />

spend two modules research<strong>in</strong>g the technology and th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g about how its<br />

application can create value for a bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

Project requirements are:<br />

A topic proposal, due at the end of Module One (submitted for feedback consistent<br />

with the <strong>Innovations</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>IT</strong> <strong>Paper</strong> Rubric, but not graded separately)<br />

A f<strong>in</strong>al report, due <strong>in</strong> Module Three (graded us<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>Innovations</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>IT</strong> <strong>Paper</strong> Rubric)<br />

Research <strong>Paper</strong><br />

Format The f<strong>in</strong>al research proposal should be 3–5 pages <strong>in</strong> length, not <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

cover page or reference list. This project must follow current APA formatt<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Research Objectives


To successfully complete this research project, you will be expected to apply what<br />

you have learned <strong>in</strong> this course and should <strong>in</strong>clude the follow<strong>in</strong>g objectives:<br />

1. Identify emerg<strong>in</strong>g <strong>IT</strong> trends through scholarly and/or trade literature<br />

2. Understand the impact of <strong>in</strong>novative <strong>IT</strong> solutions on bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

Guidel<strong>in</strong>es for Submission: This paper must follow these formatt<strong>in</strong>g guidel<strong>in</strong>es:<br />

double spac<strong>in</strong>g, 12-po<strong>in</strong>t Times New Roman font, one-<strong>in</strong>ch marg<strong>in</strong>s, APA<br />

citations. <strong>Paper</strong> should be 3–5 pages, not <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g cover page and references.
