Why You Should Vote
Most agree that the upcoming Presidential election
will be the most important, and ugliest in our
lifetime. Both candidates have more baggage then
the airline industry.
For this reason many have decided not to vote,
or to vote for a candidate that has no chance of winning.
Throwing away your vote is neither wise or
noble. As Calvin Coolidge observed, “If the people
fail to vote, a government will be developed which
is not their government… Unless citizens perform
their duty, such a system of government is doomed
to failure.” Yet today half of all Christians are not
registered, and only half of those vote.
The simple fact is that one of these two will be
elected as our next President. The winner will not
only be our President for the next four years, but
most likely the next eight. Rarely do incumbents
lose. All we need to do is look at the last eight years
to realize how dramatic the effect can be.
To be honest, I am not sure that anyone can reverse
the direction our country is headed. Greed,
corruption and immoral behavior have become legalized,
normalized and institutionalized. As the
Lord told Jeremiah, “Can…a leopard change his
spots…can those who are accustomed to do evil,

Regardless, the party platforms they support,
present vastly different agendas for the nations future.
They diametrically differ on the economy, the
military, international affairs and globalism. But
they also differ on issues that are of special concern
to Christians:
Marriage: Democrats support same-sex marriage.
Republicans “condemn the Supreme Court’s
ruling” and “urge its reversal” by court ruling or
constitutional amendment.
Abortion: Democrats will fight laws and policies
that impede abortion; even partial-birth abortion.
Republicans have presented the most pro-life
platform in the history of the Party.
Courts: Democrats “see the Constitution as a
living document, open to new & novel interpretations.
Republicans “support the appointment of
judges who respect and rule by the Constitution,
respect traditional family values and the sanctity
of human life.” The next President will appoint one
or more Supreme Court justices, determining the
direction of the courts and the nation for the next
25 years.
Religion: Democrats support “a progressive vision
of religious freedom,” criminalizing conscience
and prosecuting those who take moral stands based
upon the Bible. Republicans want to “bar government
discrimination against individuals and businesses
for acting on the belief that marriage is the
union of one man and one woman.”
Education: Democrats “will fight” to “improve
school climates” and advance the gay and transgender
agenda; and see schools are a place to change
society rather than educate children. Republicans
call out the Obama administration’s transgender
bathroom edict; denounce the liberal social agenda”
to reshape our schools to fit the mold of an ideology
alien to America’s history and traditions.”
It has been said that we get the government we deserve.
What is also true is that we will get the government
we choose on November 8th.

DOES YOUR VOTE COUNT – Part Two
How you can help ensure votes count as intended.
Begin by Googling “election/voter fraud,”
“black box voting,” and True the Vote. Three states
employ mail-in only voting. All other states have
freedom to choose poll sites vs. absentee ballots.
Ten years ago in Washington, proponents
pushed mail-in only ballots as faster and cheaper
than poll sites. Not true. Ballots printed in Seattle
are trucked to Spokane, then intensively processed
as ballots are returned. Each ballot is handled a
minimum of 10-12 times prior to actual counting
by the tabulator. Manual duplication of ballots is
slow and difficult to observe, but overhead projection
would be faster and easier for all to view.
Election Day in Washington is now Election
Season. One day of poll sites, timewise, vs. four
weeks of mail-in ballot processing – is this efficient?
If Spokane County condensed all processes
into a much shorter timeframe, security of ballots is
increased. “Early voting” lets parties know voting
trends, and abuse results from lots of money and
power trying to control election outcomes.
Become an election observer! Washington law
provides for election observers from political parties.
Observers are the “eyes” on this governmental
responsibility. Stalin, paraphrased, said, “I don’t
care who people vote for; I care who counts the

votes.” Auditor Dalton keeps restricting what observers
are allowed to observe. Observers need to
see all of the ballot processing procedures. Dalton
should pursue more, not less, transparency.
If online voting ever gets approved, there will
not be enough security to ensure a clean election.
Few people will agree to a hard-to-hack system using
four passwords. Living in epidemic identity
theft/fraud times, this is a warning to you that officials
will make security promises they can’t keep.
Dalton says, “We trust the voter,” implying you are
to trust her (policies). I’ve been election observing
for seven years and mistrust comes from getting
different answers to the same questions.
Vote intelligently by using various resources.
Faith-based voters can research candidates/issues
at www.webelievewevote.com, or view www.capr.
us which rates local and statewide candidates on
property rights issues. The Public Disclosure Commission
shows a candidate’s donors at pdc.wa.gov.

My theory why fewer people engage in voting:
• No voter education exists, no Public Service Announcements.
• No printed County Voter Guide – online-only •
Guide discriminates against computer illiterate, elderly,
and poor.
• People, busier than ever, have no time to research
candidates/issues.
Ballots arrive in the mail, end up with bills, junk
mail, and forgotten. Election Day is weeks away.
Out of sight, out of mind.
No accountability to vote since voting is anonymous;
nothing encourages you to vote except yourself…don’t
vote and no one will know.
Teach your children to vote, they are our future.
Recently, a local high school conducted a mock
election. Elections department provided out-ofdate
poll site equipment. Is this helpful or realistic?
Parents cannot provide their own children an
example about voting unless ballots are marked in
front of them! Ah, that dreaded anonymity, again.
People have no idea what is involved in ballot processing,
what ballot duplication means, or if there
is adequate security.
Spokane County has increased voter registrations,
but how many are constitutionally legal
registrations? Small towns are charged fees by
Spokane County for their elections based on their
registration rolls. Why do small towns have registration
rolls containing voters who haven’t lived
there for many years? Is this ethical? It’s certainly
expensive for small towns.
Election officials must prioritize being up-todate
by removing duplicate registrations, eliminating
“dead” voters, and maintaining the most accurate
voter registration rolls. Dalton requires no
valid identification if someone calls Elections to
change their address. Does Elections know if the
real voter is calling? Trusting an unknown person
on the phone is NOT secure.
Our state and county must do more to improve
voting security. A valid test of accurate voting results
would be an independent election audit. (Your
ballot is read by a program, an algorithm. Can this
program be hacked? Everything can be hacked and
altered.) What’s your trust factor? Judges won’t allow
an independent audit because they don’t check
out facts, never having been election observers, and
don’t understand the processes. If judges knew the
facts, they would want an independent election audit.
Much is at stake in voting. Basic freedom requires
secure voting. Please vote intelligently!

a White House official to

The Minnesota
contractor takes out a tape
measure and does some
measuring, then works
some figures with a pencil.
"Well," he says, "I figure
the job will run about
$900. $400 for materials,
$400 for my crew, and
$100 profit for me."
The Tennessee
contractor also does some
measuring and figuring,
then says, "I can do this
job for $700. $300 for materials,
$300 for my crew,
and $100 profit for me."
The Chicago contractor
doesn't measure or figure,
but leans over to the
White House official and
whispers, "$2,700."
The official, incredulous,
says, "You
didn't even measure like
the other guys! How did
you come up with such a
high figure?"
