I popped into Nursery
earlier and got some
lovely photos of some
very happy children
who loved having
their photos taken!

Heartfelt thanks must go to Rosemary and the volunteer team from
Trinity Church who facilitated our fabulous prayer spaces this
week. Malcom, Eluned, Eve, Kate, Sarah , Jacquie, Georgina, Petronella,
Jay, Teresa, Marion , Val , Sally, Selina, Katie, Barbara, Maggie
and David: THANK YOU from all of us for your time and for
saying such lovely things about our school .
The different zones, set up in cozy tents, covered the following
themes: What Helps? We’re Special , Others and We Can Change
Things.
We didn’t take too many pictures as
the reflective nature of the spaces
doesn’t really lend itself to taking
photos!
This work was an excellent lead up to
our special Remembrance Day assembly
this morning.

Building models for homework!
Following on from last week’s interesting homework
article, Brooke and Jorge went to interview Nathan of
Swallowtail Class who had made this super model of the Solar System at home.
Nathan said that making it was exciting and fun
but quite difficult to paint. He said that he didn’t
have to practice much, just take his time and
that he felt most people would enjoy making
this sort of model.
Thank you Nathan for sharing such an interesting
project with your class and for growing your
science brain at home.
U’s News
On Saturday 5 th November the U’s faced
Merstham and won 5-0. Alex Macdonald scored
the first goal and minuets later it was 2-0 to
OUFC with a goal from Josh Ruffles and it was
still 2-0 by half time. And when we came back
from half time Kane Hemmings struck a brilliant
goal and it was 3-0. And Tyler Roberts had to
make it 4-0 but that’s not the last Kane hemming took an opportunity
and scored another goal to make it 5-0.

As part of our work helping you to keep your child(ren)
safe and in line with new statutory requirements, we will
soon be teaching E-safety across the school on a more regular
basis. There are several websites available to support
parents and carers with this important subject. This week
we would like to recommend
Thinkuknow which has a whole host of great advice for
adults and children alike.

Year 6 went and took part in a super-hard maths challenge
last week at St. Edwards School . Well done to Lily,
Michael , Eden and Sunip for putting yourselves bravely
forward to represent Carswell so well .
Our parent governors play a hugely important role on our governing body. We currently have three
out of the recommended four parent governor positions filled so have a vacancy for this important
role. Governors meet on Monday evenings six times per year. Meetings are very efficient, interesting
and informative and usually last no longer than one hour. Our governors play a huge part in strategic
planning for school improvement and overseeing curriculum, finance and personnel. They represent
our parent community as a very real voice in moving our school vision forwards.
You don’t need any particular qualifications to be a governor, just a passion for our lovely school!
Should we have more than two people interested (we hope we do!) we will hold an election.

easier. So far we’ve raised over £650 with
just a few of us using it. All you have to do is go

make free donations to charities, so if you are a
bit of an online shopper, you can contribute significant
amounts of money to the school without
parting with any of your own! You can even ask it
to remind you when you visit a site!
Next Friday, 18th November, we will be holding a nonuniform
day for Children in Need in exchange for a £1
donation . If your child would like to wear something
spotty or dress up as Pudsey Bear, they are more than
welcome.
Our Year 6 team of charity Fundraisers will be running
a ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ stall on the day for 20p
per go so do bring extra change if you would like your
child to take part!

Caldecott Primary School is looking to employ a SMSA to work 1 hour per day, 5 days per week
in term time only. You will be working in a large team of SMSAs who are responsible for ensuring
the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the midday break periods. Duties include
overseeing school meals and packed lunches in the school hall and also play in the school
grounds.

Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been just lovely with the presence of Remembrance Prayer
Spaces in our school hall, leading up to our Remembrance Day assembly
today.
As ever, I was delighted with the children’s respect and patience they
demonstrated as we joined the 2 minute silence today. We watched a

and focused on hope for a peaceful world in the
future. Well done especially to our younger children.
A huge thank you to our team of Year 6s who
have been selling poppies and other merchandise
before and after school with incredible efficiency
and regularity. Thank you Gus, Keeden, Brooke,
Teddie, Noah, Sunip and Michael—you’ve been truly outstanding!
I had the pleasure of attending two different singing
practises this morning and just had to share this joyful
photo. Because of prayer spaces, everyone had to
cram into a classroom space. This didn’t inhibit the
enjoyment as children began to learn the songs they
will be sharing with you at our Christmas Carol Service
and Nativity!
We are looking forward to our FOCS Family Bingo night tonight. With
over 80 tickets sold, we are sure to have lots of fun!
FOCS are busy preparing for Carswell’s first Christmas Market. If you have
toys, books and tombola prizes you would like to donate, please do bring
them in to the school office.
Please also put our Family Decorations Day in your diary (Friday 2nd
December 9:15am-10:45am). This annual event invites parents and carers
to come and join in making decorations with their children in their
classrooms. We will give you a cup of tea in the hall while teachers register
your children!

conflict and who are involved in Remembrance Day services this weekend.
