ABOARD THE REGAL PRINCESS
FEBRUARY 18 - 26, 2017
Ft. Lauderdale, Dominican Republic,
St. Thomas, & St. Maarten
See The US Virgin Islands, which are known as America’s paradise,
offering an easygoing blend of island ways and American
practicality. Stunning mountain scenery, crystalline waters, and
white-sand beaches with palms swaying in the breeze - the US
Virgin Islands are truly a slice of paradise.
Itinerary
St. Maarten offers a delightful case of split personality. Legend
has it that a Frenchman and a Dutchman divided ownership of the
island through a walk-off: standing back to back, the two headed
in opposite directions, walking around the island until they met.
Perhaps the Dutchman paused for a refreshing brew. At any rate,
the French ended up claiming 21 square miles of the island to 16
square miles for the Dutch.
Thirty years ago, Cambodia emerged from a brutal regime
that resulted in complete destruction of schools. Since then,
rebuilding the country’s educational system has been a top
priority and considerable improvements have been made.
However, despite these efforts, Cambodia’s education sector
remains blemished by limited access to quality instruction,
inadequate school facilities and high dropout rates. Access to
and completion of primary school remain a pressing dilemma.
Getting to a school where students can complete upper
primary grades may mean traveling far distances from home.
Having a bicycle is more than a child’s wish, it is a student’s
transportation to his or her future.
Vermont at Gettysburg
with Howard Coffin
Vermont provided over 32,000 men to the Union Army in the
Civil War. It was represented at the Battle of Gettysburg by over
4,400 men in nine infantry, and one cavalry regiments of whom
415 became casualties. Vermont was unusual in having two all-
Vermont brigades at Gettysburg, as well as a cavalry regiment
and three companies of sharpshooters.
Please join Champlain tours and famed Vermont Civil War
historian Howard Coffin as we retrace Vermont’s role at this
historic event. Howard Coffin is a sixth-generation Vermonter
with four ancestors who served with the Vermont regiments in
the Overland Campaign. He has long been active in battlefield
preservation, and was a U.S. Senate appointee to the National
Civil War Sites Advisory Commission. A writer and public
relations consultant, Coffin is a former press secretary to U.S.
Senator James M. Jeffords, Independent, of Vermont. The
author of the Civil War including “Guns Over the Champlain
Valley,” Coffin has been exploring the Civil War and Champlain
Corridor battlefields and forts for 40 years.
Stars on Ice
Lake Placid,NY
In 2016, Stars on Ice celebrated its 30th season of touring,
having performed over 1500 shows around the world.
“The greatest ice show on earth started with
such a simple notion. Back in 1986, we wanted
to create a show that was all about skating. We
believed our fans would appreciate sophisticated
skating, cutting-edge costumes. and challenging
choreography. After 30 years, I am honored by
the success of our simple notion. Stars on Ice
exists to entertain you. But it has also given me the incredible
opportunity to do the work I love and am proud of. For that,
I humbly thank you.” – Scott Hamilton
