It gives us great pleasure to present you with our 

Winter 2016 - Spring 2017 Brochure. 

Once again, we have spent much time putting together 

an imaginative program for the forthcoming year in the 

hope that you will find some irresistible ideas. 

Whatever your interests, we hope you will 

find something to tempt you. As a result of 

constantly listening to customers’ suggestions 

and comments, many hours have been spent 

researching and adding new destinations to run 

alongside our popular excursions. For those who 

have travelled with us before, thank you for your 

continued patronage. If you decide to travel

BOOKING WITH KEVENDYS 

We pride ourselves on the high standard of service 

that we offer our customers throughout every step 

of your day excursion. Our dedicated booking staff 

are on hand either by phone or at our office and will 

be happy to assist you with your booking or answer 

any queries you may have to help you decide on the 

most suitable day excursion for you. They will guide 

you through the booking procedure and ask if you 

have any special requirements for your booking. This 

is an important question that we ask all our 

customers to ensure that all their requirements are 

met where possible. On receipt of the required 

deposit, we will confirm your booking or for your 

convenience we can hold your booking for 7 days. 

CONFIRMATION OF YOUR RESERVATION 

Once we receive your deposit, a confirmation 

invoice will be issued either in person at our office or 

posted direct to you. Your confirmation will note all 

the details relating to your booking such as seat 

numbers, pick up point and the date your final 

balance is due. Please note we do not send out 

reminders for final balance payments.

Waddesdon Manor Christmas Fair 

Browse 55 specially-selected stalls offering gifts, decorations and festive foods at 

this bumper 15-day Christmas Fair at the magical Waddesdon Manor gardens. 

Stalls will be housed in charming wooden chalets overlooking the Parterre and 

will feature the very best local artisan producers, as well as the nation’s finest 

independent traders. Price includes admission to grounds and afternoon timed 

entrance to Waddesdon Manor.

Visiting some of London’s top stores, Harrods in Knightsbridge or 

take a walk, bus or tube to Oxford Street where many of the top 

stores can be found. Also ideal for visiting many of the museums 

around Knightsbridge.

Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park 

London’s spectacular Christmas destination returns to light up Hyde Park with 

wintertime festivities. The UK’s largest outdoor Ice Rink will once again be set 

around the picturesque Victorian bandstand. With its 108,000 pea-lights 

illuminating the rink, it will create a sparkling and magical setting for ice skating. 

The Giant Observation Wheel takes you on a ride 60 meters into the air, to see 

spectacular views of Hyde Park and beyond. All the thrills and excitement of over 

100 rides and attractions will dazzle you throughout the site. From gentle carousels, helter skelter and fun 

houses for the little ones, to spooky ghost rides and pirate adventures for the bold, and waltzers, dodgems, 

roller coasters and adrenalin rides for thrillseekers everywhere. With more Christmas Markets and some 

exciting new eateries, you can shop, drink and dine to your heart’s content. Please note that entrance to

NOVEMBER DAY EXCURSIONS 

SUNDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 

Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market and Craft Market, now having run for 

over a decade, has become a massive favourite with both residents and visitors to 

the city from all over the UK and Europe. With over 180 stalls it is the largest 

outdoor Christmas Market in Britain, and is the centrepiece of the city’s annual 

Christmas events calendar. Pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and knoblauchbrot will 

tempt your tastebuds, all of which can be washed down with gluhwein, weissbeer, 

mulled cider, or tasty hot chocolate. And whilst you’re here why not pick up some presents for your family 

or indeed yourself in the form of the ever-favourite crystal lamps, Sounds of Nature, hand-crafted 

leatherwork, rugs, and much more besides!

The habits have hit the road again! The Broadway and West End smash hit musical

choreographed by CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD, Sister Act is the feel-amazing 

musical comedy based on the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg and 

Maggie Smith. Featuring original music by Alan Menken, dazzling dance routines 

and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco. Sister Act tells the story of Deloris 

Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective

Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Market 

The historic centre of Bury St. Edmunds will be transformed into a Victorian style 

Christmas market with colourful stalls selling local produce and crafts. There will 

also be traders from around the country and mainland Europe. To keep you 

entertained there will be traditional fairground rides and on stage entertainment.

Christmas Lights Tour with Fish & Chips 

We head into London and make our way to Waterloo for our fish & chip dinner. After 

dinner we drive to Somerset House with the huge tree and ice rink set inside an 

elegantly illuminated Georgian Courtyard, it really kindles the joyful spirit of Christmas. 

We then continue our drive by viewing the major sights of London by night. Floodlit 

London is stunning – a magical display of colour and a visit at Christmas time is full 

of nostalgia, rekindling the excitement of Christmas past. If you haven’t been to 

London for a while now you are in for a surprise. The mighty Shard now towers above the skyline and it 

looks great at night. It is possibly the most beautiful night time capital in the world. Please note that our 

Christmas tour does not include a blue badge guide.

Rochester Dickensian Christmas 

Sample Rochester’s spectacular Dickensian Christmas where shop assistants dress 

in period costumes and an array of entertainment is held in the castle grounds and 

alongside the high street. This year we stay for the candlelit parade of costumed 

characters and participants following by Carols in the snow. Price includes sherry 

& mince pie on return journey.

Salisbury Christmas Market 

Salisbury Christmas Market is inspired by the best of traditional European Christmas 

Markets, but will also have something very British about it too. The exhibitors and 

caterers will be among the best in this country and all will have been especially 

selected for the very high quality of their products, and the stylish way in which 

they present their chalets. An important feature of the Salisbury Christmas Market 

is that the majority of the goods being sold will have been produced in Britain. 

From designer crafts to Christmas decorations and all kinds of unusual and tasteful gifts, the emphasis will 

be very much on unique and desirable gifts, food and drink, most of which will be supporting our own home 

economy. Needless to say no Christmas Market would be complete without the seasonal Gluhwein (mulled 

wine), Bratwurst (German sausage), Stollen and Lebkuchen (gingerbread) as well as our many delicious 

English specialities, and this Christmas Market will certainly be no exception!

Winchester Christmas Market 

There is no better time to visit Winchester than at Christmas when the historic city 

centre is dressed with Christmas lights and the crisp winter air is scented with 

roasted chestnuts and mulled wine. The city has even adopted the title of 

England’s Christmas Capital. The Cathedral is at the heart of Winchester’s festive 

celebration providing a vast programme of services and events and a 

magnificent Christmas Market. Wonderful Christmas gifts, decorations and festive 

foods can be found in abundance.

Cirque du Soleil – Amaluna 

Cirque du Soleil has been thrilling audiences and delighting spectators all around 

the world. The new production, Amaluna, invites the audience to a mysterious 

island governed by Goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon. During a 

storm, a group of men are washed up on shore. The queen’s daughter falls for one 

of the young men, and the trials of their love unfold in the story. Seats in the Stalls 

for the matinee performance. 



WEDNESDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 

Lavenham & Clare 

We travel to Lavenham, England’s finest medieval village with over 300 listed 

buildings and a splendid church. After lunch we travel to Clare, the Suffolk village 

of the year in 2010-2012. Clare has a fascinating history and many compelling 

places to visit. It also offers a selection of privately owned shops, antique outlets 

and high quality cafes and pubs.

THURSDAY 9TH FEBRUARY 

The Fame Game 

Today we explore Mayfair, Belgravia and St. James – the West End areas beloved 

of the rich and famous to tell the story of celebrity before taking a Thames Cruise 

to Greenwich to visit a great little exhibition called Celebrity & Seduction, all about 

the Georgian celebrity revolution 200 years ago and in particular the rags to riches 

and back to rags story of Lord Nelson’s Emma Hamilton. Kitty Fisher from the Lucy 

Locket lost her Pocket nursery rhyme was the Katie Price of the Georgian period – 

the first person to become famous for being famous. This high class courtesan paid famous artists to paint 

her portrait so she could sell cheap copies to her fans and arranged publicity stunts for the press – like 

falling from her horse in Hyde Park and remember at this time there was no underwear! We’ll see the high 

class neighbourhoods where the famous through the ages have lived, loved and played and break for free 

time for lunch in Parliament Square before boarding a pleasure cruiser to Greenwich. Emma Hamilton was 

one of the most famous international celebrities of her time – her life is the ultimate costume drama. Born 

into poverty in 1765, she rose to be a muse for famous artists, an influential ambassador’s wife and Lord 

Nelson’s mistress – before facing prison and dying in destitution. The exhibition at the National Maritime 

Museum traces her spectacular career from rags to riches and back again with some wonderful paintings 

and mementoes of the time. You can buy tea in the museum cafe before we head for home at 4.45pm. 

Price includes guided tour, cruise and entrance to the National Maritime Museum.

FEBRUARY DAY EXCURSIONS 

SUNDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 

Strictly Come Dancing at the O2 Arena 

Celebrating 10 FAB-U-LOUS years, the Strictly Come Dancing Live UK Tour 

extravaganza is back on the road in January 2017 for 30 spectacular super-sized 

shows across the country! This year’s tour will star TV Judges Len Goodman and 

Craig Revel Horwood. They will be joined on the judging panel by former Strictly 

professional dancer and winner of the 2006 series, Karen Hardy. The tour will also 

feature a brand new host, Countryfile’s Anita Rani, who was a semi-finalist in the 

2015 series and a contestant on this year’s live tour. Craig Revel Horwood will direct the tour for the seventh 

year, creating all of the showbiz sparkle, breathtaking choreography and incredible live music that Strictly 

is famous for. So grab that sparkly jacket, dust off those dance shoes and waltz your way into the show 

sure to put a smile on your face!

TUESDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 

The View from The Shard & Afternoon Tea 

We arrive at Southbank where there will be free time before our viewing of The 

Shard. London isn’t short of spectacular – and spectacularly tall viewpoints, but the 

view from the Shard is supreme. At 310 metres, the Shard isn’t only the tallest 

building in London, it’s the tallest in the whole of Western Europe, and offers guests 

a sensational experience, starting when you enter on the ground floor. There are 

three different viewing platforms, including 360 degree views on Level 69 and the 

open-air floor on Level 72. We then travel a short distance by coach to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea at 

The Hornimans at Hays.

WEDNESDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 

Harry Potter Studio Tour 

People from all over the world have been enchanted by Harry Potter for nearly a 

decade. You’ll have the chance to go behind-the-scenes and see many things the 

camera never showed. From breathtakingly detailed sets to stunning costumes, 

props and animatronics. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry 

Potter has recently unveiled a 20,000ft expansion, including the original Hogwarts 

Express steam engine and a recreation of Platform 9¾. The new permanent section 

will offer a glimpse into how some of the films’ most iconic scenes were created as well as give visitors the 

chance to climb aboard the train’s carriage and to pose with a luggage trolley as it disappears through the 

platform wall. The tour provides a unique showcase of the extraordinary British artistry, technology and 

talent that went into the making the most successful film series of all time. Secrets will be revealed!

Milestones Museum with Cream Tea 

Today’s excursion takes us to Hampshire’s award-winning living history museum, 

Milestones. You can explore the authentic shops and streets filled with familiar 

objects from the past. The museum comes to life through the lively commentary 

(a free audio guide is included) and there are costumed characters who perform 

daily. The entire Museum is under cover and the price includes a delicious cream 

tea in the afternoon before we return back home.

SATURDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 

Wonderland, Cliffs Pavilion 

TV and West End star Wendi Peters, much loved for her acclaimed portrayal 

of Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street, will headline the UK tour of 

Wonderland as Queen of Hearts alongside musical theatre favourite, Dave Willetts 

as the White Rabbit, who has previously starred in tours of South Pacific, 42nd 

Street, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Wonderland is an enchanting musical 

adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the 

Looking Glass, with a huge heart, a medley of magic and a whole lot of wonder. Here a timely and touching 

story of love in all its forms, it’s an adventurous exploration of who we are, who we want to be and the 

power of everyday magic in our lives. Wonderland boasts a catchy score full of songs by Frank Wildhorn, 

writer of pop hits for Whitney Houston and theatre classics including ‘This is the Moment’.

We make our way to Cambridge for our lunch stop today. Cambridge is a beautiful 

country town with one of the two oldest universities in England. Cambridge has a 

wide variety of shops, gardens and a riverside promenade to walk through and 

explore. After lunch we make our way to Anglesey Abbey which is set in 114 acres 

offering rolling lawns, sweeping avenues, formal gardens wildlife habitats, classical 

statutory and a working watermill. In winter, drifts of snowdrops and yellow aconites 

add colour to the frosty landscape.

The London Film Locations Tour 

We meet our tour guide at 2.30pm in central London to explore the backdrops to 

iconic films of the 20th and 21st centuries. From James Bond to Bridget Jones and 

Harry Potter to the Long Good Friday and with a bit on and off the coach we also 

look at where the film stars stay (and live) in London, how film crews get 

Westminster Bridge and Trafalgar Square closed for filming and how you could 

become a film extra or even have your house star in the movies! At the end of 

the tour we retire to the President Hotel in Bloomsbury for a three course carvery with tea or coffee before 

heading home at 7pm after rush hour.

On Sunday the street is transformed into an oasis of foliage and flowers. Everything 

from bedding plants to 10 foot banana trees are up for grabs. The air is intense

of the flower sellers grow their own plants or import flowers from around the world. 

It is one of the few streets in the country composed of sixty independent shops. 

Small art galleries sit next to cupcake shops, vintage clothes stores, English and 

Italian delis, garden and antique shops. There is also a wealth of great pubs, cafes and restaurants. The

Today is market day in St. Ives. For nearly 1,000 years the wide centre of St. Ives, 

now known as Market Hill has hosted some of the largest markets in England.

to sell their wares to the thousands of people who attend under the watchful eye 

of Oliver Cromwell, one time resident of the town, whose statue stands in the

Always a popular destination, Bletchley Park was home, from 1938, to the British 

Government’s Code and Cypher School. Originally based in London it was moved 

to Buckinghamshire under a cloak of secrecy. Today it is a treasured heritage site. 

Visitors can explore some of the iconic WW2 code breaking huts and blocks and 

marvel at the astonishing achievements of the code breakers whose work is said 

to have helped shorten the war by two years. The landscape has been returned to 

its 1940's appearance enabling visitors to step back in time to the scenery the code breakers would have

Kentish Curios 

We begin with morning coffee and biscuits (included) at Tudeley near Tunbridge 

Wells. In 1963 a young girl from the nearby manor house drowned in a sailing 

accident at Rye. She was an art enthusiast with something of an eye and may have 

gone on to become an important collector (she bought David Hockney’s student 

exhibition painting which is a clear indication of her eye for art). Her heartbroken 

parents commissioned the Russian artist Marc Chagall to design stained glass 

windows for the parish church in her memory and the result is magical. 

From Tudeley we follow the Medway crossing from side to side, we see the Hoppers Hospital, some 

very pretty villages and old properties and the little boats and the ancient bridge at Yalding which floods so 

often you begin to suspect that the name is Saxon for Don’t Build Your House Here! We stop in the compact 

and handsome West Malling for free time to buy lunch – its an interesting and attractive town, a mini 

Tunbridge Wells. 

For the afternoon we visit the wonderful Aylesford Friary. Built as a Carmelite Priory in the 1200s they 

thrived by the Medway Henry VII booted them out and the old mediaeval buildings became part of a rich 

man’s private estate until the Carmelites bought it all back in 1940. Now it’s a site for pilgrimages and 

retreats. We’ll visit the beautiful chapels full of creative modern artwork – ceramics, statues and stained 

glass, you can visit the tranquil peace garden or wander down to look at the river. There’s also a pottery and 

upholstery workshop and tea are available in the old barn. We make tracks for home at 4.45pm having 

discovered a truly beautiful and lesser known area of Kent and its curios. Price includes guided tour and

We enjoy free time in Covent Garden before our afternoon cruise on the Thames

The Bombay Sapphire Distillery 

We travel to Winchester, home to one of the largest cathedrals in Europe and a vibrant shopping area. 

There will be time to purchase lunch. In the afternoon we shall visit the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery at 

Laverstoke, which opened its doors to the public for the first time in October 2014. Housed in a completely 

restored and renovated former Victorian Paper Mill which marries old and new in the impressive historic 

buildings. You will discover what makes the iconic drink so distinctive, from the unique vapour infusion 

process in the Dakin Still House to exotic botanicals nurtured in stunning glasshouses. There is an opportunity 

to explore both the rich history of the mill and Bombay Sapphire, then browse the limited editions and 

cocktail accessories in the Gin Shop. To complete the experience you will be invited to enjoy a 

complimentary cocktail in the Mill Bar or on the terrace overlooking the River Test.

Highclere Castle ‘Downton Abbey’ 

Downton Abbey was filmed here on location at Highclere Castle. Highclere Castle 

has been the home to the Carnarvon family since 1967 and was built on an ancient

entrance to the Egyptian exhibition and the surrounding grounds and gardens. It 

is advisable to take a packed lunch with you as the catering facilities at this popular

To Make a Booking 

To make a provisional booking, you can 

either call into our office or call one of our 

dedicated booking staff. We will hold 

places for you without obligation for a 

period of 7 days. Please note that 

provisional bookings will be cancelled 

automatically if a deposit is not made 

to secure the booking within this time. 

Confirmation of Booking 

In order to confirm your booking, we 

require either payment in full or a £5.00 per 

person nonrefundable deposit with the full 

payment due 2 weeks prior to the 

departure date. Once payment is received 

(either in full or part) we will send your 

excursion ticket which confirms receipt of 

payment, number and location of seats 

booked and pick up times. Please note 

that we do not send out reminders for 

balances that are due and these dates are 

clearly noted on your excursion ticket. 

Theatre Tickets 

In respect of theatre bookings only, 

payment is required in full at the time of 

booking. Should you wish to cancel any 

theatre booking with us, you may do so 

but please note that any refunds will only 

be made if we are able to re-sell the tickets 

on your behalf. 

Child Fares 

Child fares apply to all children between 

3 and 15 years inclusive. 

Methods of Payment 

All normal methods of payment, including 

cash, are possible at our office or by post 

with a cheque. All cheques should be 

made out to Kevendys Travel. Please note 

there is a 2% charge for payments made 

by credit card. 

Group Bookings 

If you book 20 places altogether on a day 

trip one goes free. 

Cancellation By the Company 

Should circumstances arise where, we are 

forced to cancel any excursion, all monies 

paid by passengers for that particular 

excursion will be refunded in full. Following 

that, the company shall be exempt from 

any further liability. 

By the Passenger 

You may cancel your booking at any time 

prior to departure subject to the following 

conditions: 

In the event of a customer cancelling a 

booking more than 14 days prior to 

departure, a full refund will be made (less 

the deposit). The exception to this rule is 

theatre tickets and any admission tickets 

for which a refund will only be made if the 

tickets can be resold on your behalf. In the 

event of a customer cancelling a booking 

less than 14 days prior to departure, a 

refund will only be given if, tickets can be 

resold and will be subject to a £2 

administration fee. 

Alterations 

The company reserves the right to alter 

excursions or prices, the size, seating plan 

and specification of the vehicle used or to 

cancel any excursion listed in the brochure. 

We also reserve the right to alter routes, 

timings or stopping places. All dates and 

times are correct at the time of printing, 

but may be liable to change due to 

circumstances beyond our control. 

Admission 

Admission charges are included in all 

prices unless otherwise stated. 

Boarding Information 

The company requires all passengers to 

arrive 5 minutes before the time stated on 

their excursion ticket, as we cannot accept 

any liability for passengers arriving after 

the stated coach departure time. 

Seat Allocation 

All seats must be prebooked and are sold 

on a first come first served basis. We 

allocate seat numbers on our excursions 

which are honored wherever possible. 

However, we reserve the right to change 

seat numbers should circumstances deem 

it necessary. 

Departure Times 

Departure and refreshment stop times will 

be advised by the Escort/Driver and 

passengers are requested to adhere to 

these times in order to comply with 

regulations governing driver’s hours. 

Breakdowns & Delays 

The company gives its advice on journey 

times but does not guarantee the 

completion of any journey at a specific 

time and will not be liable for loss or 

inconvenience caused by breakdown, 

other delay or any other cause beyond the 

control of the company. 

Property 

The company will not accept liability for 

any damage to or loss of property 

belonging to any passenger left in the 

vehicle. All articles of lost property 

recovered from a vehicle will be held at the 

office for a period of four months.

Continental Travel 

Passports are essential for all continental 

excursions to ECC countries shown within 

this brochure. Citizens of non EC countries 

should ensure that they have the necessary 

visa to enter all countries visited. 

Data Protection Act 1984 

To comply with the Data Protection Act 

1984, we must inform you that your name 

and address is held on our computerised 

mailing list and booking system that is 

used exclusively by Kevendys Travel, and 

will not be given to any other persons 

outside of the company. Should you wish 

to be removed from our booking system, 

please notify us in writing. 

DDA 

Our coaches are not able to carry 

passengers in wheelchairs, but provided 

that the coach can be accessed, any 

folding wheelchairs may be placed in the 

luggage hold. If a seat with greater leg 

room is required or an assistance dog 

is accompanying a passenger please 

mention this at the time of booking. 

Seatbelt Legislation 

On the 18th September 2006 it became 

law that all passengers must now wear 

seatbelts. Passengers may be fined if 

stopped by the police and found not to be 

wearing their seatbelts. 

Pick Up Points 

These maybe subject to a transfer to bring 

you to join the coach at the last pick up 

point. We do this to minimize the amount 

of pick up points. Please note that the 

transfer maybe a Coach, Minibus or Taxi. 

We reserve the right to use a transfer 

vehicle at any pick up point, should it be 

necessary.
