is award-winning poet and UMass<br />

Lowell professor, Maggie Dietz.<br />

to explore one of the most<br />

productive birding areas in the<br />

country. To date, we have seen<br />

over 320 species of birds on these<br />

poetry collections That Kind of<br />

Happy and Perennial Fall, which<br />

won New Hampshire’s Jane<br />

Kenyon Award for Outstanding<br />

Book of Poetry. For many<br />

years she directed the national<br />

Favorite Poem Project, and is<br />

coeditor, with Robert Pinsky,<br />

of three anthologies related to<br />

the project: Americans’ Favorite<br />

Poems, Poems to Read and An<br />

Invitation to Poetry. Her poems<br />

appear widely in journals such as<br />

Ploughshares, The Threepenny<br />

Review, Agni, and Salmagundi.<br />

Her awards include the Grolier<br />

Poetry Prize, the George Bennett<br />

Fellowship at Phillips Exeter<br />

Academy, and fellowships from<br />

the New Hampshire State<br />

Council on the Arts and the Fine<br />

Arts Center in Provincetown,<br />

Massachusetts. She teaches in the<br />

creative writing concentration at<br />

the University of Massachusetts<br />
