Look for live music to be playing during the week at the Red Rooster. “We’re still working on the lineup,” noted Marshalsea, “but we’ll have live music playing here for sure.” During our visit, we learned of a number of charitable events that have taken place at the Red Rooster. Marshalsea is looking toward the pub’s reopening when they will again be a drop-off location for “Toys for Tots.” They hold a meat raffle once a month, with past proceeds from the raffle going to Home Start, an organization based in Boston that benefits homeless veterans. When the Red Rooster’s remodeling began, all the wall decorations were raffled off and the proceeds went to the LaBonte Fund to benefit Wrentham policeman George LaBonte and his family. This King Philip defense held tight as they had all season, although there was cause for concern when BC High tallied what appeared to be the equalizer with just under two minutes left in the contest. That goal, however, was nullified by an off-sides, and King Philip was able to close out the win and move on to the semifinals. Defense was a hallmark for the Warriors, with a back four of senior captains Cam Mullins and Ryan Coulter in the middle, flanked by juniors Larsen Keys and Jack Bush. These four stood tall in front of senior goalkeeper Eli O’Neill, who notched a school-record 16 shutouts. Not to be outdone by the defense, the offense piled up goals at an impressive rate. Lead by senior Colby Koch (2 nd in the league in scoring), junior Tom Lugten, and sophomore Tony Bozza, the King Philip offense was always a threat to blow any game open. And like the defense, the offense was clearly the class of the league, as its 44 goals play easily outpaced all the other competing squads. Tying the offense and defense together were a trio of outstanding junior midfielders. Connor Mullins provided a calming influence, settling balls and distributing passes all over the field. Mike Rowe provided a little bit of everything, getting up to make his presence known in the offensive half and working hard to get back and help out on defense. Midfield play was truly the glue that held this team together. While this season will be tough to match, the cupboard won’t be bare for head coach Nick Gale when practice starts again next August. The seven returning starters will be joined by a number of reserves who received valuable experience this year and will be looking to make their mark next season.
