Here I Am
Mencap has launched their new ‘Here I Am’
campaign. Learning disability has been
invisible for too long. It’s time to see people
with a learning disability for all they are and
all they can be. Join the ‘Here I Am’ campaign,
spread the word and help change the future.
The campaign features the results of the first
set of in-depth research into public
attitudes towards learning disability in 30
years, a brand new video featuring a DJ, who
has Down’s syndrome, images from fashion
photographer Rankin and a web tool which
allows the public to ask the questions they’re
usually too afraid to ask about learning
disability.
Autism Friendly Public Places
Public spaces can be overwhelming for an
autistic person trying to deal with too much
information. The British Retail Consortium
represents over 80% of the UK’s high street.
The National Autistic Trust is asking them to
work with their membership, which
includes some of the country’s biggest
retailers, to make the high street autism
friendly. To find out more and sign the
petition go to: http://www.autism.org.uk/
