{ for housing }
13
For a decade, CitySquare has worked with our partners in the community to address the lack
of affordable housing in our city by providing housing to teens aging out of foster care and the
chronically homeless. We also build and operate affordable housing communities throughout
the city to ensure that our low-income neighbors have access
to quality housing. In 2012:
Our Destination Home program provided permanent supportive housing to 133 formerly homeless
neighbors.
CityWalk@Akard, a 15-story mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Dallas, which provides
100 apartment homes to formerly homeless neighbors and families, and another 100 units of affordable
housing to low-income neighbors, continues to be full.
{ for hope }
CitySquare offers multiple programs aimed at renewing hope in the lives of our less fortunate
neighbors. In 2012:
Legal Action Works (LAW), provided pro bono legal services to nearly 400 households. Most cases
involved helping women and children escape domestic violence situations.
WorkPaths Pre-Employment Training enrolled 150 students in one of our training classes: Path2Success,
Build4Success, and Framework4Success.
Public Policy continued the fight to change systemic inequities that perpetuate the cycles of poverty.
Neighbor Support Services provided comprehensive case management and referral services to over
1,300 neighbors through our Resource Center, Homeless Outreach Team, CityWalk@Akard
Community Life, and Destination Home.
Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC) helped over 800 of the most challenged at-risk teens make a
life plan and acquire skills they need to survive on their own once they turn 18.
