MT WILLIAM ADVANCED TREE NURSERY FIELD TRIP
FRIDAY 19 TH FEBRUARY
From early February we were straight back into it, as we made our way to the beautiful Macedon Ranges for our first 'Industry Day' of the year. Starting
at 'Tarraleah', a garden largely designed by the late Grant Saltmarsh, attendees were given an hour to explore the grounds. From there, we made our
way to the Mount William Advanced Tree Nursery, where Damien Choate took us through a fantastic presentation, showing examples of what to look for
during a root inspection and why it is so important to do this prior to purchasing stock. We also heard from Greg & Greg of Garden City Plastics about
the importance of wetting agents, before heading off for a tour of the impressive nursery. At the conclusion of the tour, Damien treated the group to a
practical rootplate inspection using an airgun. The day concluded with lunch at a local Winery where attendees enjoyed delicious local produce.
MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW
WEDNESDAY 16 TH MARCH TO SUNDAY 20 TH MARCH
The term 'rain, hail or shine' really rang true this year, with construction taking place in a myriad of conditions.
Despite this, and the usual unforeseen obstacles, come open day, the Boutique Garden's were complete, Show
Garden's primped and polished and Landscaping Victoria's brand new dome was shining like a beacon. Our
Advisory Centre was a popular attraction this year, with a number of members walking away with new clients.
WARNERS NURSERIES INFORMATION DAYS
THURSDAY 21 ST APRIL & THURSDAY 22 ND JUNE
The weather wasn't enough to deter our members who were privy to a walking tour of the impressive nursery,
whilst Andrew and Alison from Warners took us through the expansive plant collection and detailed how each
variety can be used for maximum impact. Following the tour, the group made their way up to the Warners
'Viewing Deck' for food and drinks and a final presentation from Michael Warner and Garden City Plastics.
BAMSTONE FIELD TRIP
FRIDAY 20 TH MAY
Another 'field trip' took place in May, this time to Bamstone, where members of some 20+ years, as well as new
members were able to connect with others from all category sectors, and most importantly with our Bronze Partner,
Bamstone. As well as having their eyes opened to the enormous scope of products on offer from Bamstone, each
attendee came away from the event with a greater appreciation for the processing that goes into the production of
this impressive bluestone. We must thank Mike and Cheryl Steel for their generous hospitality throughout the trip.
Congratulations to everyone who entered – the standard was exceptional and proves that LV members are maintaining very
high industry standards.

50 TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
MONDAY 22 ND AUGUST
We couldn't let our 50 th birthday pass without at least treating our members to some cake! Celebrations were
held at the Auburn Hotel, with members both past and present coming together to celebrate. How wonderful
it was to share this milestone with some of our early members such as Peter Herrington, Daryl Tomlins, Max
Thomas and John van der Linde, men who were responsible for laying the foundations of the fantastic
Association we have today.
