NBAA Soccer Week 2
Newspaper Reports
Coed Tots
Cougars (American Bolt Corp), Dynamo: Team Dynamo played a fantastic game on this
beautiful morning. Troy Marciniak was virtually unstoppable with 7 goals and several assists
while Becca Hall and Marissa Waldera each contributed 2 goals apiece. Our Sweepers presented
a very strong defense with Becca Hall leading the way with 7 rejections. Aurelio Sanchez
reversed 3 drives toward Dynamo’s goal and blocked a shot with Marissa Waldera and Katie
Gerten each repelling 2 drives. Alexander Kemstra and Troy Marciniak also contributed to our
tough defensive stance around our goal. Katie Gerten, Becca Hall, Alexander Kemstra, Troy
Marciniak and Marissa Waldera showed great versatility as they transitioned well from offensive
Forwards to defensive Backs, pursuing the ball up and down the field.
Blast (Smarty Pants Learning Center), Blitzz: The Blast and the Blitzz played in a closely
fought game. The two teams were tied several times during the course of the game before Dylan
Holschbach of the Blast scored two goals in the final minutes. The rest of the scoring came from
Drew Davis and Sam Batchelor who each scored three times for the Blast. Evan Brazaitis, Riley
Henrichs and Jordan Bauer were able to slow the Blitzz with good hustle on defense.
Boys Minis
Galaxy (Amy's Academy), Impact: Team Impact had their second win of the season over
Team Galaxy. Great defense by all was the key to the win this week. Our first half goalie
Chase Peterson and second half goalie Troy Blawat only allowed one goal. Our top scorer this
week was Matthew Woelfel who scored 3 goals and Ty Martin with one. Great job Team Impact
!!!
Hammerheads, Phantoms: Great defense by the entire team. Good team effort by all.
Fury, Kings: It was an evenly matched, competitive game. All the players gave 100%. Our
goalies had many saves. The goalies were JJ Kukor and Peter Platzer. Aaron Bertsch scored our
goal. We had many great shots on goal and attempts.
Girls Minis
Sting, Voltage: Erin Joda, Sophia Kennedy, Amanda Maly and Lillian Schimmels continued
their positions as Forwards this week with Lauren Gryczka and Olivia Berger joining the
rotation. Lillian scored twice for the Sting in the first half of the game. Overall, we saw some
very encouraging signs that what we're working on in practice is showing up in the girl's game
play. We had great passing up the field and among the Forwards. Our defensive backfield
composed of Olivia Berger, Madison Billings-Nowak, Vera Gleisner, Monica Kemstra, Greta
Suess and Lauren Gryczka kicked the ball to the outsides and up field to the Forwards. All the
girls appeared to be paying closer attention to their spacing this week and worked to maintain a
wider spread. We saw some good passes as a result and their dribbling and ball control also
improved. Ball pursuit looked better too this week. Instead of running to where the ball was,
girls moved in anticipation of where the ball was going. Our goalies this week were Olivia
Berger with 7 saves in the first half, allowing 1 shot by for a score and Monica Kemstra with 12
saves and 3 goals allowed; the last just 3 seconds before the whistle blew to end the game.

Storm, Strikers: This was a back and fourth game. The Strikers took a first half lead of 4-2.
The Storm came back in the second half and took a 5-4 lead. Morgan Shepherd led the Strom in
scoring with 3 goals and Rachel Mueller had the other two goals. Isebella Kramer showed great
improvement from her first game ever to this game and almost scored a couple of times. In the
end the Strikers charged back with the final two goals to get the victory. It was a great and fun
game for both teams.
Surge, Wizards: The weather was cool for a nice late morning game of soccer. The Wizards
played great today. Cassidy Kroupa scored 3 goals, Kennedy Poepping scored 1 goal, and Julia
Cullaz scored 1 goal too. Caitlyn Getzloff and Trinity Uttech played well defending their goal
with nice kicks to push the ball up to their forwards. Kara Ward played a good first half as
goalie. She threw the ball strong from the goal box line. Avery Levandoski played well as a
forward, keeping the ball in bounds and kicking towards the goal.
Boys Minors
Piranhas 5, Rage 0: The Piranhas got their first shut out of the season on the stellar
goalkeeping of Will Roder (one of our Game Ball winners) and Nick Nestor, as well as several
heads-up plays by our other Game Ball winner, Ethan Gebert. The high powered offense was
just as effective spreading the scores around with goals scored by Ben Crosby, Nick Nestor, Will
Roder and Bill Dowling (2).
Girls Minors
Blast 4, Chill 2: This was a very close game in which the Blast was able to hold off the Chill.
Morgan Goff was all over the field for the Blast, scoring all 4 goals. Emily Gotz had an
incredible assist on one of the goals. It was a great defensive game by both teams.
Girls Juniors
Comets 2, Crossfire (Classic Motorcars Inc) 5: It was a cloudy day with brief moments of the
sun breaking free. Taylor-Nicole Rawski scored 2 goals in the first half leaving team Crossfire
in the lead at halftime. Taylor-Nicole Rawski completed her hat trick early in the second half.
Alyssa Mallman scored a goal for Crossfire. #14 for the Comets scored a goal to bring the
scoreboard to 4-1. Emily Collette reaffirmed Crossfire's lead with a ball in the back of the net
near the end of the game. The Comets were able to draw back one more goal, but it was too late
in the game.
Boys Majors
Strikers 1, Thunder 3: Noah Evans tallied an assist on Justice Dodd's second half goal.
