Name of the Director : Dr. Dinesh Kumar Aggarwal<br />
University <strong>Institute</strong> of Engineering & Technology (<strong>UIET</strong>) was established by Kurukshetra University in<br />
2004 as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ to provide quality education in engineering & technology fromt he State<br />
of Haryana for UG & PG programmes. The institute is serving as a nodal agency for the matters of<br />
academic importance like, development of scheme of examination, syllabus, academic plan and<br />
maintenance of standards in affiliated Engineering colleges and is headed by Director and Dean<br />
Engineering & Technology. On the basis of academic strength and considerable expertise available in<br />
university departments, <strong>UIET</strong> decided to start B.Tech. degree programme in the technically important<br />
disciplines of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering,<br />
Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering was added during session 2007-08. Initially, it was also decided<br />
to start M.Tech. degree programme in Microelectronics & VLSI Design has since being transferred to<br />
Electronics Science Deptt., K.U.K. and Software Engineering. Presently, the <strong>Institute</strong> is also running<br />
M.Tech Program in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, and<br />
Biotechnology w.e.f. from academic session 2009-10. The University has constructed a separate<br />
building for <strong>UIET</strong> with all amenities and modern laboratories, workshop, library and classroom & 6<br />
seminars halls facilities. The University campus offers excellent environment for the overall personality<br />
development of the students. Within a short span of time, <strong>UIET</strong> has earned a good reputation within the<br />
state of Haryana. The admissions to B.Tech programs in the institute are made on the basis of AIEEE<br />
rank through Haryana State Counseling Society. The admission to M.Tech. Programms are done through<br />
“<strong>Institute</strong> Level Entrance Test”, conducted annually. With the hard work and able guidance of the<br />
faculty members at <strong>UIET</strong> these students are sure to become the world class Engineers and<br />
Technologists. The ultimate aim of the <strong>UIET</strong> is to become role model for Engineering & Technology<br />
Education not only for State of Haryana but for world over to meet the challenges of 21 st century.<br />
Department profile<br />
Electronics & Communication Engg. Department:<br />
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engg.(ECE) was established in the year 2004. The<br />
department admires technology Development through innovations and its exploitation for the benefit of<br />
human kinds. The ECE department at <strong>UIET</strong> is running B.Tech and M.Tech Programs in Electronics &<br />
Communication Engineering with intake of 120 and 20 respectively. The department has more than<br />
450 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is equipped with the latest experimental
and computational facilities for taking up R & D and consultancy activities in various fields.<br />
Various workshops on latest electronic design automation tools like Multisim, Orcad ,Xillinx ,Labview ,<br />
pSpice, Matlab to make students proficient in electronic design automation tools are being organized<br />
regularly . The department is also running Govt. of India sponsored NPMOS program. Besides, the<br />
department is equipped with electronics components worth more than Rs. 12.00 Lacs and under the<br />
active guidance of faculty members, the students have also been working on various microcontroller,<br />
embedded system based electronics projects.<br />
Computer Science & Engg. Department:<br />
The Department of Computer Science& Engg. Department was established in the year 2004. The<br />
department offers B.Tech. & M.Tech. degrees. The Department started with an intake of 60 in B.Tech.<br />
degree programme & 20 in M.Tech. (Software Engg.). In view of the increasing importance of the<br />
Computer Engineering discipline, the intake of the department was increased to 120 in 2007. To keep<br />
pace with the current technological trends, the Department has introduced a credit based postgraduate<br />
programme leading to M.Tech. in Computer Engineering in the year 2009. Ever since its establishment,<br />
the Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with<br />
a strong commitment to engineering education. Our students are exposed to up-to-date equipment,<br />
technology and techniques. We have well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities like Blade<br />
sever, servers, thin clients and desktops (from IBM, HP,HCL etc.). Induction of new courses from time to<br />
time enables the students to keep abreast of recent technological developments. Flexibility in<br />
curriculum is provided through Electives Seminars and Projects.<br />
Biotechnology Engg. Department:<br />
U.I.E.T. is one of the pioneer institutes providing B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Biotechnology. The laboratories<br />
are well equipped with all the modern kits and instruments to provide proper assistance to students.<br />
Most of the faculty members are Doctorates. Several national level seminars and conferences on recent<br />
advances are organized by the University which are attended by eminent scholars. Special executive<br />
meets are also organized which provide an insight into the working of the company.<br />
Mechanical Engg. Department:<br />
The B.Tech courses in Mechanical Engineering are broad based and integral with emphasis on<br />
fundamental concepts to enable the students to become confident engineers capable of solving wide<br />
range of problems encountered by them in the field. The courses are planned to train the students both<br />
in theory and practical work in the following areas of Mechanical Engg.: Machine Design, Stress Analysis.<br />
Theory of Machines, Measurements and Automatic Control, Thermodynamics, Thermal Machines,<br />
Power Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering.<br />
The students are given normal workshop training to familiarize them with the working of machine tools<br />
found in industry. They are also given project problems covering design, fabrication, testing,<br />
manufacturing aspects thus giving them opportunities to develop their capabilities to solve practical<br />
problems through the use of computers.<br />

� <strong>UIET</strong> has six big conference halls of capacity 300 students approx., more than 30 laboratories,<br />
hostel facility, Photostat shop, canteen, modern conference hall, fully equipped classes, 2mbps<br />
dedicated internet leased line and other ICT equipments.<br />
Placement Cell<br />
University <strong>Institute</strong> of Engg. & Technology (<strong>UIET</strong>) was established by Kurukshetra<br />
University in 2004 in the Univ. Campus as ‘Centre of Excellence’ to provide quality education in selected<br />
Engg. Disciplines at Under-graduate and Post-graduate levels. At the start of <strong>Institute</strong> in 2004 admissions<br />
for B.Tech. were made in three branches namely Electronics & Communication, Computer Science &<br />
Engg. & Bio-Technology . The first batch of passed out students in 2007-08 were placed in reputed<br />
companies with pay package of upto Rs. 4.5 lacs per annum. 83% students of ECE deptt., 82% students<br />
of CSE Deptt. and 54% students of Bio-Tech. Deptt were successfully placed. The college has signed<br />
MOUs with highly reputed organizations such as CSIO, CEERI Pilani and also has setup its own training
and placement cell for the summer training of the students in countries leading R&D centres and<br />
reputed industries firms like DRDO, NDRI, HAU, Siemens, IBM, BHEL, PAU, BSNL, HCL, NTPC, Reliance,<br />
Airtel etc.<br />
