Name of the Director : Dr. Dinesh Kumar Aggarwal
University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET) was established by Kurukshetra University in
2004 as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ to provide quality education in engineering & technology fromt he State
of Haryana for UG & PG programmes. The institute is serving as a nodal agency for the matters of
academic importance like, development of scheme of examination, syllabus, academic plan and
maintenance of standards in affiliated Engineering colleges and is headed by Director and Dean
Engineering & Technology. On the basis of academic strength and considerable expertise available in
university departments, UIET decided to start B.Tech. degree programme in the technically important
disciplines of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering,
Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering was added during session 2007-08. Initially, it was also decided
to start M.Tech. degree programme in Microelectronics & VLSI Design has since being transferred to
Electronics Science Deptt., K.U.K. and Software Engineering. Presently, the Institute is also running
M.Tech Program in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, and
Biotechnology w.e.f. from academic session 2009-10. The University has constructed a separate
building for UIET with all amenities and modern laboratories, workshop, library and classroom & 6
seminars halls facilities. The University campus offers excellent environment for the overall personality
development of the students. Within a short span of time, UIET has earned a good reputation within the
state of Haryana. The admissions to B.Tech programs in the institute are made on the basis of AIEEE
rank through Haryana State Counseling Society. The admission to M.Tech. Programms are done through
“Institute Level Entrance Test”, conducted annually. With the hard work and able guidance of the
faculty members at UIET these students are sure to become the world class Engineers and
Technologists. The ultimate aim of the UIET is to become role model for Engineering & Technology
Education not only for State of Haryana but for world over to meet the challenges of 21 st century.
Department profile
Electronics & Communication Engg. Department:
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engg.(ECE) was established in the year 2004. The
department admires technology Development through innovations and its exploitation for the benefit of
human kinds. The ECE department at UIET is running B.Tech and M.Tech Programs in Electronics &
Communication Engineering with intake of 120 and 20 respectively. The department has more than
450 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is equipped with the latest experimental

and computational facilities for taking up R & D and consultancy activities in various fields.
Various workshops on latest electronic design automation tools like Multisim, Orcad ,Xillinx ,Labview ,
pSpice, Matlab to make students proficient in electronic design automation tools are being organized
regularly . The department is also running Govt. of India sponsored NPMOS program. Besides, the
department is equipped with electronics components worth more than Rs. 12.00 Lacs and under the
active guidance of faculty members, the students have also been working on various microcontroller,
embedded system based electronics projects.
Computer Science & Engg. Department:
The Department of Computer Science& Engg. Department was established in the year 2004. The
department offers B.Tech. & M.Tech. degrees. The Department started with an intake of 60 in B.Tech.
degree programme & 20 in M.Tech. (Software Engg.). In view of the increasing importance of the
Computer Engineering discipline, the intake of the department was increased to 120 in 2007. To keep
pace with the current technological trends, the Department has introduced a credit based postgraduate
programme leading to M.Tech. in Computer Engineering in the year 2009. Ever since its establishment,
the Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with
a strong commitment to engineering education. Our students are exposed to up-to-date equipment,
technology and techniques. We have well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities like Blade
sever, servers, thin clients and desktops (from IBM, HP,HCL etc.). Induction of new courses from time to
time enables the students to keep abreast of recent technological developments. Flexibility in
curriculum is provided through Electives Seminars and Projects.
Biotechnology Engg. Department:
U.I.E.T. is one of the pioneer institutes providing B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Biotechnology. The laboratories
are well equipped with all the modern kits and instruments to provide proper assistance to students.
Most of the faculty members are Doctorates. Several national level seminars and conferences on recent
advances are organized by the University which are attended by eminent scholars. Special executive
meets are also organized which provide an insight into the working of the company.
Mechanical Engg. Department:
The B.Tech courses in Mechanical Engineering are broad based and integral with emphasis on
fundamental concepts to enable the students to become confident engineers capable of solving wide
range of problems encountered by them in the field. The courses are planned to train the students both
in theory and practical work in the following areas of Mechanical Engg.: Machine Design, Stress Analysis.
Theory of Machines, Measurements and Automatic Control, Thermodynamics, Thermal Machines,
Power Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
The students are given normal workshop training to familiarize them with the working of machine tools
found in industry. They are also given project problems covering design, fabrication, testing,
manufacturing aspects thus giving them opportunities to develop their capabilities to solve practical
problems through the use of computers.

� UIET has six big conference halls of capacity 300 students approx., more than 30 laboratories,
hostel facility, Photostat shop, canteen, modern conference hall, fully equipped classes, 2mbps
dedicated internet leased line and other ICT equipments.
Placement Cell
University Institute of Engg. & Technology (UIET) was established by Kurukshetra
University in 2004 in the Univ. Campus as ‘Centre of Excellence’ to provide quality education in selected
Engg. Disciplines at Under-graduate and Post-graduate levels. At the start of Institute in 2004 admissions
for B.Tech. were made in three branches namely Electronics & Communication, Computer Science &
Engg. & Bio-Technology . The first batch of passed out students in 2007-08 were placed in reputed
companies with pay package of upto Rs. 4.5 lacs per annum. 83% students of ECE deptt., 82% students
of CSE Deptt. and 54% students of Bio-Tech. Deptt were successfully placed. The college has signed
MOUs with highly reputed organizations such as CSIO, CEERI Pilani and also has setup its own training

and placement cell for the summer training of the students in countries leading R&D centres and
reputed industries firms like DRDO, NDRI, HAU, Siemens, IBM, BHEL, PAU, BSNL, HCL, NTPC, Reliance,
Airtel etc.

� All faculty got trained under faculty development program jointly organized by NITTTR,
Chandigarh & UIET, KUK in 2007.
� Organized a national level Technical-cum-cultural festival “EXCELSIOR’08” in April, 2008.
� Organized three days faculty development program on Uses of Xilinx/Mentor Graphics EDA tools
in Jan., 2008.
� Organized one day Technical workshop for students on Powai labs VLSI Design EDA tools in the
month of April, 2008.
� Organized one day Technical workshop for students on ERP in the month of April, 2008.
� Entrepreneurship awarenesship camp was organized at UIET w.e.f. 5 th Mar to 7 th Mar, 2009 for
all S&T.

(27.03.09 to 29.03.09).
� An Entrepreneurship sensitization program was organized at UIET on dated 26.09.09.
� A workshop on “Career Counseling and Personality Development” was organized on dated
18.02.09.
� Organized the Vice-Chancellor’s meet on “Academic Reforms in Engg. & Technology- Curriculum
framework, credit system & evaluation ” on 23.10.08.
